The GrandWest International area is easily accessible from Cape Town via car, taxi or bus, and hosts the largest entertainment area of all of Cape Town. [all info can be found here]

  • The currency in Cape Town is the South African rand: ZAR or simply R.
  • South Africa uses a unique type of plug and socket, Type M, which has three large round pins in a triangular pattern.
  • South Africa is ranked second for having Africa’s fastest internet speeds, with Cape Town boasting  reliable, fast WiFi. Check that your phone is compatible with GSM networks.
  • Major mobile network operators in South Africa include Vodacom, MTN, and Cell C. 
  • South Africa has a total of 11 official languages: Afrikaans, isiNdebele, isiXhosa, isiZulu, Sepedi, Sesotho, Setswana, Siswati, Tshivenda, Xitsonga and, last but not least, English.

  1. South Africa is home to a multi-cultural melting pot of 55 million people of diverse origins, cultures, languages and religions.
  2. Although English is widely spoken and is used for signage, South Africa celebrates diversity in language with a total of 11 official languages: Afrikaans, isiNdebele, isiXhosa, isiZulu, Sepedi, Sesotho, Setswana, Siswati, Tshivenda, Xitsonga and, last but not least, English.
