The SiGMA Esports Cup will take place at the SiGMA Toronto Expo, a two-day gaming technology conference that will feature the first tournament in North America. SiGMA, in collaboration with GMR and EBET, has announced that the third edition of the esports CS:GO tournament will be held at the Enercare Centre in Toronto on June 7~8. The LAN event will feature four teams—Davenport Panthers, The Jungle, OneT4P, and Valors—competing for a $7,500 prize pool.
The winner will receive $5,000 and the runner-up will receive $2,500.
Following the previous SiGMA Esports Cup held at SiGMA Asia in Dubai in March this year, Day 1 will continue to feature the BO1 round-robin seeding stage. Day 2 matches will be played in one qualifier of BO3 seeded based on Day 1.
In a surprising twist, the two teams will be vying for a spot in the SiGMA circuit final, which will be held this November as part of SiGMA’s Malta Week Expo. All winners will be granted entry to the event in Malta and will join the winners of the SiGMA Esports Cup at SiGMA’s last two conferences in Dubai and Malta for a grand finale and a $30,000 prize pool.
Speaking to SiGMA reporter Yanni Collins in Dubai at the March 2022 event, last year’s winner, OneT4P, said: “I feel great, my teammates showed me a lot of motivation today, SiGMA did very well, they did a lot of work for this tournament, they deserve a lot of recognition.”
Last year’s winner ONET4P recently acquired Logan “Voltage” Long from The Pond and Davenport Panthers won 7-2 at ESEA Advanced. Directly behind the advanced are Valors, who have a 6-2 record. The Jungle also participated in ESEA Main and currently holds a 9-0 record.
Fueled by the decline in traditional sports and the global video game market worth about $159 billion in 2020, the high-growth esports segment will attract more than 495 million viewers annually. The tournament will be streamed live on https://twitch.tv/gmr_tv.
