BetMGM cite ‘glitch’ in $3m online roulette payout refusal

BetMGM’s refusal to pay millions in winnings because of a ‘glitch’ could lead to a lawsuit from one of their players

As reported by GamblingNews.com

Little did Jacqueline Davis know that after her successful 5-day streak playing betMGM’s Luck O’ Roulette online fixed-odds games she would hit a brick wall when claiming her winnings. The fact that she began with an initial $50 investment and turned that into $3 million after a rollercoaster of ups and downs must have added to the frustration.

The plot thickened as she visited the MGM Grand in Detroit to get an advance on her winnings – $100,000 to be accurate. At that point, they did not bring up any problems with her notable run, but as she returned the next day they explained that the game had malfunctioned. This meant that she would not be entitled to any further payout.

The reason they acquiesced to the first $100,000 was quite the jaw-dropper.

‘What glitch?’

Davis was told that she would only be allowed to keep the money if she kept the glitch secret from the public. They went as far as to insist that she signs a confidentiality agreement! They then threatened her with refunding the money and paying for any costs incurred by BetMGM.

David Steingold, her lawyer, retorted that the glitch defense was mute because BetMGM were in violation of regulatory requirements.

‘They were instructed by regulation to check this every single night, every 24 hours. And my client played for five straight days.’

Golden Lawyer

Steingold forged ahead and asked how exactly the glitch affected the total made by BetMGM and whether other players had their losses reimbursed during that time.

BetMGM’s attorney refused to comment to the media on the story and hung up on the spot.
