Betsson sets record as revenue tops €1 billion

Betsson has shattered its own records and crossed the €1 billion mark in annual revenue for the first time. The company reported a 17 percent increase in annual revenue, registering €1.11 billion.

This growth was driven by a record-breaking performance in the final quarter of the year, where Betsson’s revenue soared by 22 percent compared to the previous year. The company posted a revenue of €306.8 million for the quarter.

Quarterly figures

Casino revenue for the quarter grew by 17 percent to €213.9 million, which was a major driver of Betsson’s overall revenue growth.

Meanwhile, sportsbook segment’s revenue jumped 36 percent to reach €91.3 million. This was attributed to a higher sportsbook margin of 9.8 percent in the fourth quarter, compared to 6.2 percent in the corresponding year. Additionally, sportsbook gross turnover grew by 2 percent, reaching €1.71 billion.

“As we put 2024 behind us, we can conclude that it was the best year ever for Betsson, where we continued to strengthen our position as one of the global leaders in gaming and betting,” said Betsson president and CEO Pontus Lindwall. “The year was characterized by high growth, strengthened profitability and strategic investments in line with our long-term goals and our vision to offer the best gaming experience in the industry.”

In terms of customer base, Betsson’s active customers saw a marginal increase, reaching about 1.35 million by the end of the fourth quarter.

However, the company experienced a slight decline in its total registered customer base, which dropped by 1 percent to 29.4 million. This reduction was primarily due to Betsson’s decision to exit certain markets.

Performance by geographies

The company recorded notable geographical performance in several regions, with the strongest growth recorded in Latin America (LATAM). LATAM saw a 47 percent growth in its revenue, reaching a new high of €78.2 million. Countries like Peru, Argentina, and Colombia saw significant growth.

In the Central & Eastern Europe and Central Asia (CEECA) region, Betsson’s revenue reached €132.2 million, marking a 24 percent increase fueled by record performances in countries such as Georgia, Lithuania, Croatia, and Greece.

Western Europe saw its revenue rise by 26 percent to €52.7 million. The Italian and Belgian markets contributed to this growth. Revenue from locally regulated markets were also up by 58 percent to €182.6 million in the fourth quarter.

“Our investments in the Latin America and Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia (CEECA) regions continue to be a key driver of the group’s growth, and we have successfully built a strong position in several key markets using our expertise in online gaming and our proprietary technology platform and sportsbook,” continued Lindwall.

Previous results and partnerships

“Our commitment to sports and marketing through strategic sponsorships has also played an important role in strengthening Betsson’s brand and engaging our players globally.”

Betsson AB’s third quarter results also broke records, with revenue increasing by 18 percent compared to the same period in 2023, reaching €280.1 million. This growth was driven by high customer activity, with deposits rising 20 percent year-on-year to €1.48 billion and active customers increasing by 10 percent to 1.36 million.

In November, Gaming Innovation Group (GiG), B2B iGaming technology provider announced an extended partnership with Betsson Group to enhance the Zecure brand’s presence across regulated markets. Building on their 2022 collaboration, the renewed agreement brings cutting-edge technology and managed services to drive Betsson’s success in key regions like Serbia, Germany, and Peru.
