Boyd Gaming said it has completed its $170 million acquisition of Pala Interactive and U.S. land-based operators continue their push into the online space.
The cash acquisition was announced in March this year. Pala Interactive is an online gaming technology company with both B2B and B2C operations. The company provides B2B services in eight states across the U.S. and Canada and direct to consumer in New Jersey and Canada.
“Online casino gaming is an attractive growth opportunity for our company, and the acquisition of Pala Interactive provides us with the technology, products and expertise to create a profitable regional online casino business,” said Keith Smith, Boyd president and CEO “We look forward to working with the Pala Interactive team in executing our online casino gaming strategy, which will complement our existing land-based operations and further expand our nationwide customer base.”
Since online gambling was legalised U.S. operators have raced to boost their digital presence. Some organically and others through an aggressive mergers & acquisitions strategy.
Some major deals include Caesars Entertainment’s acquisition of the U.S. assets of William Hill and MGM Resorts purchase of Leo Vegas.
In its original announcement, Boyd said that the purchase would allow it to leverage and monetize its customer database and the amenities of its nationwide portfolio of properties to drive growth in both verticals.
