Casino Canberra not eligible to claim Australia’s JobKeeper scheme benefits

Aquis Entertainment announce ineligibility for Australia’s JobKeeper scheme after reporting strong Q4 2020 figures during the pandemic

Casino CanberraAquis Entertainment, owner and operator of Casino Canberra, have made a statement on their ineligibility to lay claims to Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Government’s COVID-19 JobKeeper scheme following their strong Q4 comeback amidst the pandemic. 

The operators were initially eligible for phase two of the Federal Government Jobkeeper Payment Scheme, launching in September 28th 2020 and ended January 3rd 2021, that was focused at assisting businesses affected by the ongoing pandemic to help prevent unemployment. 

Reports, however, showed that the operatorstrong trading performance‘ in the past quarter enabled it to return to its pre-COVID levels, indicating that they did not require any support from the government. 

The operators said:

Based on the assessment of the operating performance against employer eligibility requirements, Casino Canberra is not eligible for the phase three of the Jobkeeper Payment Scheme and will cease claims for Jobkeeper subsidy payments effective from January 4th 2021. All employees were recalled to full capacity during the December 2020 quarter.

Aquis Entertainment also stated:

The operator also reported that it will continue to operate according to its COVID Safety Plan as required by the ACT government, which is a daily requirement. As part of the guidelines set by the government, Casino Canberra is required to abide the 505 person cap for its venues.
