Century Casinos has entered a long-term partnership with BetMGM to bring online and mobile sports betting to Missouri. Under the agreement, Century will provide BetMGM with access to one of its licences, enabling the launch of BetMGM’s sportsbook platform in the state once legal sports wagering goes live.
The Missouri Gaming Commission (MGC) recently confirmed that the sports betting market will open on 1 December 2025, with legislation taking effect on 30 August 2025. This window gives the MGC time to process licence applications from retail casinos and other potential operators.
As part of the deal, BetMGM will share a percentage of the net gaming revenue generated from its Missouri operations with Century Casinos. The agreement includes a guaranteed minimum amount, ensuring a steady income for Century regardless of the platform’s initial performance.
Century Casinos will also retain the right to operate a retail sportsbook at its casino locations in Missouri, although the company may exercise this option at its own discretion.
Sports betting is not yet operational in Missouri, but the legal groundwork is now in place. From 30 August, the MGC will begin reviewing new licence applications. Retail casinos in the state have been invited to apply, while two licences have been reserved for new operators, expected to be announced by 15 August.
This timeline gives interested parties a three-month period to finalise their applications and prepare for a December launch.
Century Casinos’ Co-Chief Executive Officers, Erwin Haitzmann and Peter Hoetzinger, issued a joint statement about the partnership, “We are excited to partner with BetMGM, a leading online sports betting and gaming entertainment company with a dynamic and innovative brand. This partnership is another step forward in leveraging our Missouri licences and delivering premium entertainment experiences for our customers.”
BetMGM continues to expand its footprint across the United States, targeting new state markets as sports betting legislation evolves. The company’s platform features a wide range of sports, betting formats, and integrated mobile features tailored for each market.
Missouri’s entry into legal sports wagering marks a significant shift in the state’s gaming landscape. With major operators like BetMGM preparing to go live, the market is expected to attract strong interest from sports fans and bettors across the state.
Retail and online sportsbooks are set to benefit from Missouri’s robust sports culture, which includes professional teams in American football, baseball, and ice hockey.
