Dara Sakor casino announces delayed opening due to safety precautions surrounding COVID-19

With Cambodia’s community outbreak still surging, the firm had to postpone their reopening plan for the third time

Century Entertainment will be delaying the launch of their mass table gaming operations at their new casino in Cambodia, Dara Sakor as a result of further restrictions imposed to curb the spread of the outbreak. This is the third time that the company had to postpone the opening, as a result the firm did not specify the exact date this time.

Dara SakorThe Hong Kong listed company had plans to relocate its Sihanoukville VIP room and launch mass market tables to a hotel in Dara Sakor.

The new land-based venue is an investment zone covering 360skm on the Cambodian coastline and the plan came about after the CEO of Century Entertainment received an attractive offer to house the casino in that area.

In a filing to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange the company said “In view of the current strict lockdown measure, there has been no significant progress on the re-opening preparation works of the new casino including systems testing and provision of training to casino staff,”

“The New Casino will continue with the remaining preparation works and strive for reopening as soon as the current COVID-19 Epidemic situation in Cambodia eases and personnel are able to move in the city.”

The new venue is expected to have a Chinese restaurant, a total area of 10,500 square meters with 20 mass gaming tables, seven tables for niu-niu poker, 10 tables for baccarat including Century Entertainment’s assignment, one table each for blackjack, sicbo and poker, 25 VIP tables and 50 EGMs.

The new lease agreement is penned down for 15 years starting from 1st October 2020 and ending 30th September 2035.
