Hon. Schembri retains Economy ministry with some alterations; Hon. Bartolo assigned ministry of Tourism

Digital innovation portfolio passed on to Silvio Schembri; Clayton Bartolo assigned Ministry of Tourism in latest government reshuffle 

This weekend the Maltese government experienced its second reshuffle of the year, the first one being in Janurary of 2020. 

Parliamentary Secretary  for Financial Services Regulation and Promotion of FInancial Services and Digital Economy Clayton Bartolo (pictured bleow at the SiGMA iGathering 2020) was assigned as the new Minister of Tourism and Consumer Protection. 

I am looking forward to see Malta serve as an enjoyable venue for people to experience culture, history, recreation and above all the Maltese experience. Notwithstanding these challenging times, we are committed to continue working hard to ensure that once the vaccine kicks in, we will be once again hands on deck to offer a premium tourist destination, said the Hon. Bartolo.

On the other hand, Hon. Silvio Schembri (pictured below at the SiGMA World Summit 2019) retained his position as Economy Minister, but certain aspects of his previous ministry were distributed to other members, whilst also being handed over the digital innovation portfolio from Bartolo. On his twitter the Minister for Economy said how ‘

Amongst Prime Minister Robert Abela’s other changes, two recently sworn-in members of parliament, Clyde Caruana and Miriam Dalli, were assigned to take over the Finance Ministry and the Energy and Malta Enterprise-the latter of which previously fell under Hon Schembri’s ministry.

Both Hon. Silvio Schembri and Hon. Clayton Bartolo have done considerable work in the digi-tech and gaming fields and both of which have featured on the cover of two issues of BLOCK magazine.
