Continent 8 continue to make technological strides

Roberta Castle, Chief Revenue Officer at Continent 8 Technologies, talks about the technical and infrastructure advances made in recent months that are allowing operators and suppliers to enter new and emerging markets around the world

While the opening of new markets, the announcement of mergers and acquisitions, and the launching of the latest games are the stories that most often make the headlines, the technological and infrastructure advancements made in recent months and years are just as crucial (and noteworthy) to driving growth across the sector.

In order to enter these new markets and offer players the latest games or betting opportunities, operators require an ever-more advanced technical set-up and one that is compliant with what can be complex regulation.

This is certainly the case for those entering the US for the first time due to the state-by-state nature of the market.

During our Leaders & Legends webinar in February, Shimon Akad of Playtech described the US market as “the biggest opportunity” for iGaming. The US is a significant emerging market for Continent 8 and our customers. That’s why we have gone to great lengths to ensure we are operational in states where required as soon as they go live. We are already established in over 20 states with further sites to launch this year.

Our investment in the US began in 2014 and resulted in the opening of a Tier 3 data centre within the Atlantic City Convention Centre in New Jersey in 2019. Dubbed the sports betting capital of the world, in New Jersey we offer partners a regulatory approved Public Cloud, enabling compute, network and storage as a service on a shared platform with dedicated connectivity for regulatory monitoring as well as in-state and out of state public internet and private MPLS services.

We have Private Cloud capability in all the states where we are live. We also support AWS Outpost deployment having recently become an AWS Select Consulting Partner.

Our products and services allow operators to operate with confidence and to meet the rapidly rising demand for online and mobile sports betting.

But it is not just the US where we see huge potential for growth. Increasingly, our partners are making plays in LatAm. We can support LatAm based operators as well as those looking to target players in the region from the likes of Europe, with a low latency network.

To support this we have built out an experienced team focused solely on the region. This consists of Jorge Morales, our Account Director, and Gabriel Szlaifsztein, our General Manager. They work with a dedicated high-level technical team based locally and overseen by our Managing Director for the Americas, Nick Nally.

While markets such as the US and Latin America are capturing a lof of the attention, the European market is a critical one for Continent 8 and we remain committed to delivering our industry leading products and services.

In Malta, for example, we are increasing our footprint and enhancing our product range so that we can better serve our partners located in the global hub for iGaming. Our recent recruit, Melissa Lamb as Sales Account Director, is working closely with existing and prospective customers in the region. Alongside our network offering global connectivity, our security solutions defend critical infrastructure against an ever-increasing number of threats, which is particularly important in Malta where a number of organisations have fallen victim to cyber attacks in recent months. This includes comprehensive threat detection and response capabilities via our state-of-the-art 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC), as well as our DDoS and WAF protection.

In Gibraltar in May we launch our Public Cloud, augmenting our offering in the region, responding to changing market conditions and the demand for innovation in infrastructure. Already live in a number of locations, including the Isle of Man, Colombia, Dublin, Montreal and Atlantic City, our Public Cloud solution offers a multi-tenanted, scalable and resilient IaaS platform to host customer infrastructure as Virtual Machines (VM’s). This solution provides a number of significant benefits to customers, including reduced ongoing costs, flexibility and scalability.

Ultimately, operators and suppliers require best in class technologies and infrastructure to enter and grow these markets, as well as a partner who understands the iGaming regulatory landscape, and here at Continent 8 we remain dedicated to, and passionate about, providing this to the highest possible standards.
