The second day of the summit did not disappoint, with some incredible guests turning up both on stage and at our expo floors.  The Prime Minister of Malta, Robert Abela was certainly a pleasant surprise, turning up mid-morning to show his support for the event. In his press release issued shortly after his visit, he spoke with pleasure at seeing the optimism found in investors at the summit as they looked towards Malta as an opportunity for investment. He also expressed his wish that for yet another year the SiGMA Europe would continue to strengthen this country’s position in these sectors through its success. [caption id="attachment_457052" align="alignleft" width="300"]akon main Akon speaking on smart cities.[/caption] We were also excited to welcome back international superstar and entrepreneur Akon for a panel on Smart Cities. “Blockchain is what’s going to save Africa,” he said as he discussed his vision for Africa’s future, which included his belief that renewable energy and the power of blockchain would come up with innovative ways to ease navigating the necessities of day-to-day life. Alongside Arnaud Serour, CEO and Founder of Betiton, Cisse spoke with SiGMA TV about his special connection with Arnaud, saying he would be there for Betiton as long as they need him.  Watch his interview here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4h3ylwiJMQ He was one of many incredible speakers to take to the stage, including Malta’s Minister for Economy, the Hon. Do not let the size of our country trick you” microsoftteams image (27)Safemoon’s CEO, John Karony also gave a keynote following their epic win at the AIBC Awards last night where they took home the trophy for Crypto Community of the year. “When you’re able to tie together things like telecommunications, renewable energy, even all the way to how agriculture items are tracked and moved around, what you see is a greater level of transparency, efficiency, and freedom that can grow or flow within a country, within a community, within a society.”                                      Tone Vays also returned to the AIBC summit after attending both the 2019 show in Malta and the 2021 show in Dubai this May. Pioneering Padel Malta
Janika Wijkmark and her partner Karl fell in love with the sport while holidaying in Barcelona. Fast-forward five years, and they’ve turned Padel Malta into a local phenomenon among locals and expats alike. They share the journey with Ramona Depares. ‘Padel Malta’ - Almost as soon as I see the signs pointing to the courts in Pembroke, I am greeted by a cheery good morning and the sight of two couples engaged in a friendly match. Monday morning it may be, but Padel Malta is already going strong. If you’re reading this, you’re probably part of the iGaming community, which means that you either play padel yourself, or at the very least know someone who does. Just in case you actually need an explanation, however, padel is a racquet sport typically played in doubles in a small court. It can be described as a mix between tennis and squash, but way easier and more social. This is how Janika Wijkmark, founder and COO of Padel Malta, and her husband Karl, describe it to me. Because yes, sadly - and much to the amusement of colleagues and peers - I am yet to be initiated in the ways of Padel.  But I’m in luck. Janika’s and Karl’s enthusiasm is such that, five minutes into our conversation I find myself agreeing to attend the next Padel Malta rodeo, when newbies are introduced to the sport via a series of informal matches (and via post-match beers too, of course). “Karl and I were on holiday in Barcelona when we first played padel. Why did we take to it so much? Possibly because it is a very easy game to master, even if you’ve never played a racquet sport. From the very first, we had a good game. You can’t say that of many sports… that you hit the court for the first time and you have a blast immediately. Padel is like that,” Janika starts off. It wasn’t too long before Padel Malta became more than a glimmer in her eye. In the couple’s own words, it was crazy that there was no padel in Malta, especially given the huge expat community and how popular it is with them. “I decided to focus my Masters’ dissertation on creating a business plan for Padel Malta, and from then on it was all systems go. We started looking for land - which took a good two years - and getting ready to be the first to introduce padel to Malta,” she continues. Padel Malta - just for the iGaming crowd? At this point, the question begs itself -  is Padel Malta only for the iGamers and the expats? There is no denying that the entire iGaming community is pretty taken by it, and I confess to being somewhat mystified.  But, as Janika tells me, there’s no mystery about it. Padel is huge across Europe, so many expats are already familiar with it. They love the strong social aspect to the game - it’s all about hanging out at the club, enjoying a chat or a drink after a match. The sport has also helped those who recently relocate to the island to find a community of like-minded people and a safe space where to socialise. “Padel Malta is definitely not only for iGamers. It’s true that the community loves it, for the simple reason that the sport provides a familiar safety net. But it’s gaining popularity with the Maltese too, and at a very fast rate! When we first opened the courts, the ratio would’ve been about 80% expats. Now, it’s more like 60% versus 40%, and the number of Maltese who play padel keeps increasing,” Janika says. Of course, from the point of view of the iGaming community, Padel Malta couldn’t be located in a better spot, it has to be said. Surrounded by Pembroke greenery, the site used to be used as tennis court during British times, and was later repurposed to a five-aside football pitch.  “Central as it is, it’s the perfect location for Padlers - as we affectionately refer to Padel Malta players -  located around the Sliema, St Julian’s and Msida area. The land was in a bit of a state when we first found it, so it was quite a job to bring it to this standard - but I’m so glad we did,” Janika adds. The Padel Malta journey Padel Malta has now been open since January 2020 - not the most auspicious of periods to launch the sport on the island, one might say. COVID-19 precautions led to the venue having to close for some months, but now it’s back with a bang as regulars have returned with full enthusiasm, rediscovering their love for the sport. And anyone who’s anyone in iGaming has certainly responded extremely well to the Padel Malta phenomenon. During the hour or so I spend on site, I notice that Videoslots and Betpoint Group logo on the court; a massive billboard contains information about the Enteractive Tournament, which apparently is where it all goes down in terms of competitiveness. Recently on a Friday, for example, courts are taken over by Kindred for team-building activities; Internet Vikings run their own quarterly tournament… the list goes on, and I realise that it’s no wonder that Padel Malta has also become something of a networking staple for the iGaming community that wants to network while getting some good exercise and having fun. “What we love, though, is how Padlers feel so at home at Padel Malta. Some people come solo to make new friends, others join in with their mates, colleagues have a bit of a friendly bashing on the courts… it’s good fun”. And, if things get a bit on the competitive side every so often, no-one lets themselves be worried. It is all made up with a beer and a laugh afterwards, Janika finishes off with a smile. What’s sure is that there are many opportunities for Malta’s iGaming companies to get involved, whether through organising events, team-building or sponsorship opportunities. The best part? It’s unbeatable fun! Follow the Padel Malta page on Facebook for more information, or send an e-mail to [email protected]. Padel Malta: Know your Trivia

10 Reasons why live events rock hard
The past year has been challenging for several industries, however, the events industry clearly suffered the most. Events were immediately shut down all over the world and many companies resorted to virtual shows. SiGMA spearheaded the virtual event world through our virtual roadshows which targeted a different region every month - covering the whole globe. Although we managed to make the best out of virtual events, nothing can replace the buzz of a physical-live event! There are so many advantages a live event has, and after such a tough year due to the pandemic, we want to remind everyone about the benefits of a real-life event.

10. Nothing Beats Face-to-Face

Nothing really beats speaking in person to new and familiar faces. Face-to-face communication is vital to networking and building connections since there will definitely be a stronger connection. It definitely enhances relationships as it also helps individuals build trust and loyalty with each other. Obviously, many of us have been deprived of this benefit due to the ongoing pandemic that affected the way we communicate but make no mistake, when everything goes back to normal - people will be itching to take advantage of face-to-face communication to build those long term relationships. Face-to-face SiGMA 2019 To break it down for you, the main benefits people can obtain from face-to-face meetings are: Building those strong relationships Enhances loyalty and trust Increase in productivity Clear communication related to goals & strategy Easier to focus and be engagedIf you're craving that face-to-face communication right now, then check out our upcoming events this year, including several iGatherings and the mother of all conferences happening this November!

9. Networking

Networking is an essential skill for any business person. Building your network boost your career success by making the right connections, staying on top of industry trends & the "know-how" of the job market. Networking opens new avenues, both personally & professionally, and there is no better place to network than at a live event. Networking virtually also works but the buzz of a live show hits completely different & makes networking that bit easier due to the advantages we spoke about in the face-to-face section. So how can you be effective at networking at a live event, for example at SiGMA Europe: Look for the right people in the right job Be easygoing & proactive Keep tabs on your networking channel Continuously look for networking events - do not stay idle

8. Interactive Means Fun

Since physical events give you that face-to-face benefits, they are just way more interactive. SiGMA's events include thought provoking conferences which give people the chance to interact with experts in specific fields, be it in tech, gaming and regulation. Furthermore, most live events include an expo floor which give people the chance to learn more about companies that they are interested in. This enhances the attendee experience as they will feel more involved in the event, immersing themselves in the whole event experience. The main benefits of an interactive live event: Create lasting memories Influence people's perception Increase in engagement

7. Ambience is Unbeatable

Creating the right atmosphere is always essential to the success of an event. For example, the one thing virtual events lack over physical events is specifically this. The atmosphere that a live event creates is second to none. Creating the right ambience can boost your brand image as it will get attendees excited about your brand & ensure that they will have a great experience throughout the event, something that is difficult to replicate via a virtual event. How to get the perfect ambience? Choose the right location Greet delegates at entrance Make sure lighting and sound is perfect Food & beverages must be available Set requirements for rooms - ensure that these requirements are met Thank your delegates at the end of the event SiGMA 2019

6. Immersive Experience

By creating an immersive experience, delegates will be way more engaged at your event. They will be able to connect with your brand on a completely different level, which in turn increases brand credibility and brand value. At live events, creating an immersive experience is easy - just think out of the box and be different from everyone else. Our live events are constantly looking at new ways to create an immersive experience, going as far as bringing a talking robot to our event! Sophia the robot Here are a few of our tips to create the perfect immersive experience: Know what you want to achieve - Education? Entertainment? Brand awareness? Create content surrounded by the experience Ensure that the experience engages all the senses Personalise the experience Ensure delegate interaction

5. Special Themes Make It Special

You can easily create a special theme to go with your event, maybe even several different themes. These are important since it will set you apart from competition. Themes must reflect the objectives of the company & incorporate them into the event - it will also give the delegates an idea of what to expect. Special themes can act as a catalyst for success as it creates a buzz & helps speakers to understand their audience, which will increase engagement between the crowd & speakers. Keep in mind that live events have been away for quite some time, so people will be expecting to be entertained and their expectations will be high!

4. In-Person Learning

Through conferences & an immersive experience, delegates will be able to take advantage of in-person learning at events. It provides a hands-on experience, which allows for greater interaction between delegates and speakers. The connection between professionals in real-time is priceless and in-person training really does enhance these relationships. SiGMA focuses on in-person learning at our live events through engaging workshops that bring industry experts from all over the world to pass on their knowledge to hundreds of people. Our workshops are limited in space as we want to give you the full in-person learning experience! Conference SiGMA 2019

3. Bigger Audiences Guaranteed

This one is quite self-explanatory. The majority of live, physical events are more likely to pull a bigger audience when compared to a virtual show. The feeling of seeing a massive audience at an event creates an adrenaline rush that can not be replaced - don't believe us? Come to SiGMA Europe to see what we're on about! Having said that, just because the audience is big does not mean that the audience is right. It is essential that you target the relevant people to create the right audience. Having the wrong people at your event will hinder the success of your event overall.

2. More Content, More Value

Live events can give your team content for days! One can start producing content promoting the show from way before, including the speakers, location & "what to expect" section in the article. Content is vital to the promotion of your event while it also manages to keep the momentum going for months on end. Make sure to get a mix of photo, video & written content out there and push it through social media, media partners & email campaigns to maximise it's potential. Here are some examples of content that can be used: Tutorials Behind the scenes Video interviews Creation of infographics for delegates Blogging

1. Sales Opportunities are Maximised

The benefits of live events are endless but at the end of the day, business people want to make money. Through networking, in-person learning & face-to-face meetings, its natural that sales opportunities increase & that's the pull of live events. Quite a few business deals happen at live events since relationships and trust are being built as the event goes on. Therefore, live events are the perfect setting to initiate a potential sales deal or even close one too!

[WATCH] Understanding the regulatory climate in Sweden and the UK: SiGMA Europe 2021
Moderator Nick Nocton, a partner at Mishcon De Reya sits down with David Zeffman, a Partner and Head of Gambling and Sports at CMS and Henrik Norske Hoffman, Partner and Co-founder at Nordic Gambling for a regulatory update From responsible gambling to the recent change of guard at the UKGC, there's plenty to mull over in this discussion - held as part of Malta Week's 3-day conference. The panel kicks off with a question for Hoffman - is there a legal obligation in Sweden to conduct affordability checks?  A clear obligation is not really to be seen in the legislation and the regulations, opines Henrik. However, he believes that the administer to practice of the Swedish gambling authority suggests that there might be one, at least when it comes to AML - with the authorities having recently issued a guidance document on it. This means that when you hit a certain threshold (which comes in at around a 200 Euro spend), the operator has some obligation to find out whether the player can afford the spend. When it comes to responsible gambling, it's a different issue, both in Sweden and in Denmark, he says.  “We see from the authorities when they are doing enforcement supervision, that they actually expect the operators to do that. The Swedes are probably more hardcore than the Danes on this matter because in Sweden your taxable income is public record and ultimately the same goes for debt that has been left for public enforcement with bailiff court.” So the practice certainly suggests that operators are expected to look into income and carry out a proper affordability check. In Denmark there is no way to access that information, or to see how much tax they paid last year.  “The threshold before any operator is expected to look into income and affordability is much higher and it's a lot less clear. Even though there is no clear alleged legislative obligation, it certainly seems from practice that both authorities actually think that there is some sort of an obligation to check affordability.”  On the other hand, when it comes to the UK there’s a bit of a disconnect between what is technically required on affordability and what's actually happening in practice. There's a consultation exercise and the ongoing Gambling Act review may now also cover issues of affordability. So how can we expect it to pan out? Almost exactly a year ago the Gambling Commission published a consultation on introducing affordability thresholds and they only gave 10 weeks for responding, although that was extended by a few weeks. The clear implication Zeffman says, was that pretty much as soon as that consultation was over the Gambling Commission would be introducing affordability thresholds.  [caption id="attachment_494657" align="alignright" width="464"]SiGMA Malta Week regulation panel David Zeffman, a Partner and Head of Gambling and Sports at CMS.[/caption] “So really the perspective that one got was that the consultation was just about where the affordability threshold would be set. Not whether there should be any or what the amount should be.” The consultation detailed a spend somewhere between a hundred and 2000 pounds, but then a few days later when it published its latest enforcement report it was clear that they were going to be talking about something much nearer a hundred Sterling.  Zeffman explains that the report suggested that customers wishing to spend more than the national average should be asked to provide information to support a higher affordability trigger, such as three months payslips, tax returns, bank statements, and so on. Reading further into the report, the national average  lies somewhere between a hundred pounds and five hundred pounds a month. “That, however, was disposable income and the Gambling Commission requires you to deduct from disposable income things such as travel costs, petrol phone bills, and so on. So we're talking about potentially a very low number. Then the following month, (December 2020), the government said that they were going to be reviewing the whole of the gambling legislation.” He goes on to say that there was a strong pushback from operators, who believed that the Gambling Commission shouldn't just introduce what would be a fundamental policy change with just a change to the codes. This should be something for the government to decide. The commission received 13,000 responses to the consultation - far more responses than they'd receive to any other consultation. Then the Gambling Commission chief executive stepped down in March of this year, following the vocal index collapse. And he wasn't replaced by an interim chief executive until a couple of months ago. In May of this year, the commission  gave an update, saying that they would be publishing a full response to the consultation this summer and  would continue to work closely with the government on the review. However, the summer came and went with nothing from the commission. In September it was announced that they would be publishing revised requirements on customer interaction in the coming weeks. Which, according to Zeffman, is a bit like a lawyer saying to his client: You'll get my advice shortly. Watch the panel in full here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omMdinPn4cI&list=PLDVN4UDAkPkylAP4T8QKzksXn6nUGiLto&index=8 “It's a very elastic period of time. I'm sure affordability thresholds will be introduced at some point, undoubtedly as part of the government's review. So, we're seeing a lot of enforcement activity and I think that the commission has already de facto introduced affordability thresholds. Whereas a few years ago, most of the cases that the commission was pursuing involved millions of pounds of losses. "We’re now seeing cases involving hundreds of thousands of pounds or in some cases, tens of thousands, and there is nothing specific in any of the licensed codes of practice to specify what the affordability threshold would be. When you look at the LCCP, one of the things that you have to comply with is commission guidance, you end up in a position where you actually are obliged to know more about the customer and what they can afford to spend.” I think that there is a genuine question around whether what is being enforced in compliance assessments is actually the correct interpretation, but there's no question that what's happening on the ground is.  Changing tack slightly, Henrik believes that we’re seeing a trend in the Swedish political environment and also in some of the enforcement cases from the SGA emerge, where it is evident that they would really very much like to control how much money is allowed to be spent on gambling.  The Swedish Gambling Authority has released a guidance document recently for AML where they suggest that on average, Swedish people spend 11% of their taxable income on leisure activities. By setting that threshold, if you hit 11% or more of your average Swedish income, then at least the operators should check for taxable income. That's quite far from an actual affordability check however, because the capital gains taxes and so on is not necessarily included there. SiGMA Malta Week regulation panel “There are definitely trends in the political environment that indicate gambling should be limited. And we're hearing some of the same voices in Denmark calling for more control. That being said, in Denmark there's very little information available. We've had the equivalent of the Swedish duty of care, where you are supposed to monitor and profile your players from an RG for two years now. All the enforcement cases we've seen are older than that, and it's all been for AML.” It's regulated in the AML Act in Denmark. You are obliged, he says, to obtain this information on income based on the amount of play, and you should actually have applied that to responsible gambling. You're supposed to collect this data and are expected to share this data with your RG team. On the contrary in Sweden we've seen another kind of strange guidance emerge, opines Henrik. The Swedish gambling authorities stated that they don't think they can enforce any sanctions against an operator that chooses not to share affordability and income due to GDPR restrictions, even if it's within the same organisation - an interpretation he questions. “Ultimately, if there isn't a clear legal obligation to collect this data and to process it to see if people are spending more money on gambling that they have, then you need to have a provision in the privacy policy that you collect as part of the consent, the right to use the data in this way.” Henrik admits that he finds it a bit strange to have AML legislation that suggests that you need to collect this data and share it across all entities in a group of companies when it comes to responsible gambling while still saying they don’t think they can enforce it. After all, this was ultimately one of the main reasons both Denmark and Sweden decided to open their markets to private operators - to get more control so they could protect the players. Similar issues arise in relation to what's called the single customer view in the UK - David agrees that there's been some recent developments there.  The single customer view he explains, is a holistic view of a customer's online gambling behaviour to help reduce gambling harm. This cross operator view of the customer's gambling activities could help identify and prevent potential gambling harm to those who hold accounts with more than one gambling company.  “It's a laudable objective. If your aim is to protect gamblers themselves, then you really need to be aware of all of the gambling activity going on. Otherwise, if one operator restricts their activity or closes them down, then they're just going to go to other operators.  “However, putting aside the not inconsiderable technical challenge. It raises a whole range of legal issues, data protection, obviously, but also privacy rights, competition law, human rights, consumer law, just to name a few.” The first of those, data protection, was addressed by the information commissioner's office, which is the data protection regulator in the UK. They published their preliminary views last month, and the gambling commission's idea of having a single customer view is something that the ICO considered. From the Gambling Commission’s perspective, what the ICO said made it all seem very straightforward. So the Gambling Commission, chief executive, once the ICO had published its views, said that they know it's technically possible, the ICO has published on how it can be done safely,to protect people's data, so it's now for the industry to try the solution.  David remains unconvinced by this, saying he thought the the ICO's advice was littered with caveats - in particular, when the ICO cautioned that for the purposes of the sandbox, the conceptual model of a single customer view was considered and then its conclusions would be subject to changes due to factors such as the technical specification, the architecture, or the construction of the solution. And they also stress that analysis would be required to ensure that the processing of data was necessary and proportionate.  “I think proportionality is actually a big issue here, not just in relation to data protection.” In the UK problem gambling rates are coming down and are already low by international standards. So is this system where every person's gambling - a leisure activity - will be collated in a central register and shared among competitors? David asks. Let alone, he says, the likely huge technical expenditure. Is it really justified? “Coming back to the conversation we just had about affordability. There is a slippery slope there. Once you've got some activity being collated centrally, it's not a big step to say we should have income information on there. My personal view is that this is a sledgehammer, a very big sledgehammer to crack a nut, which is shrinking.” Nocton closes things off with a final question for David. There’s a new chair and CEO of the Gambling Commission. Do you think that that heralds a change of approach? What can the industry expect? “I'm probably a bit cynical about it, to be honest. Maybe that's just a function of being alone. But I think that the trouble is that the Gambling Commission has been the subject to such heavy criticism from parliamentarians, the media, that they’re erring on the side of being more and more aggressive in their interventions and enforcement action, because if they go too far they're not going to be criticised by politicians and anti gambling campaigners and the operators won't like that, but that's not their concern now.”    SiGMA’s iGathering: Dubai SiGMA’s renowned iGathering networking events kick off on the 28th February with an intimate dinner in Dubai. SiGMA Group welcomed 25,000 delegates as part of its Malta Week event this November. An impact assessment report carried out by E-Cubed Consultants has revealed that the SiGMA Group’s Malta-based summit generates significant economic activity on the island - contributing to sustainable growth and development of the Maltese economy through job creation, leisure and retail activity, and tourist attraction. The report looked at revenue data from 2016 to 2019 and for the year 2022, the number of visitors arriving for the event and their expenditure - including accommodation and travel. Attracting visitors in a cold shoulder month International visitors to the event in November will occupy over 60% of 4 and 5 star hotels in Malta during their stay. Entering the African Market: Experts’ insights to operators
Last January, industry experts gathered at the SiGMA Africa Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, to discuss the opportunities and challenges of entering the African market. SiGMA Africa Summit panel explores entering the African Market The panel, titled "Entering the African Market - What New Operators Need to Know," featured seasoned professionals from the iGaming industry who shared their insights and experiences on doing business in Africa. [caption id="attachment_811961" align="alignleft" width="353"] Moderator Aideen Shortt alongside panellists Alessandro Pizzolotto and Bernice Mwihaki Kariuki.[/caption] The panellists discussed the potential of the African market and highlighted the need for operators to understand the cultural and regulatory landscape of each country. They emphasized that a one-size-fits-all approach to the African market is unlikely to be successful, and that it's important to tailor products and services to the specific needs, preferences and regulatory requirements of each market. Take as an example Ethiopia's major focus on virtual sports, compared to the traditional sportsbook aspirations of Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa. Another important point raised during the discussion was the need for operators to build trust and credibility with local stakeholders, such as regulators, operators, and customers. The panellists stressed that this requires a long-term commitment to the market and a willingness to invest in building relationships and establishing a presence on the ground. Alessandro highlighted the correlation between trust in new operators and the cost of licensing required for operation in a country. He compared the cost of obtaining a license in Europe, giving the approximate example of two million euros, to the significantly lower cost of licensing in Kenya and other similar countries, which only costs tens of thousands of euros. This cost difference means that operators may be more willing to take risks in countries like Kenya, whereas in Europe, operators may be more cautious due to the significant investment required and are more easily trusted to be serious about their operations. The panel also touched on the challenges of navigating the complex regulatory environment in Africa. They noted that regulatory frameworks vary widely across different countries, and that operators need to carefully navigate local laws and regulations to avoid running afoul of the law. This can be particularly challenging for new entrants who may not be familiar with the intricacies of each market.
To be successful in a saturated market, quick adaptation to new regulations is key. Failing slowly is a luxury you cannot afford. Therefore, it's crucial to adapt quickly. Regulations apply to everyone, and it's an opportunity to stay ahead of the game. When a new regulation affects one company, it also affects others, so quick adaptation is necessary for success - Bernice Kariuki
Despite the challenges, the panellists expressed optimism about the potential of the African market. They highlighted the growing middle class, increasing access to technology, and the continent's youthful population as key drivers of growth in the region. They also noted that there is a growing interest in iGaming in Africa, and that operators who are able to navigate the challenges and establish themselves in the market are likely to reap significant rewards. Who's who? Alessandro Pizzolotto - Co-Founder and CEO, Stm Gaming - Panellist Panellist discussing entering the African Market Alessandro Pizzolotto is a co-founder of Gamerevolution S.r.l, a leading online affiliation company in Italy with a particular focus on poker. With over a decade of experience in the iGaming industry, he has honed his skills as a manager and an executive, working on various gaming-related projects. In 2017, he co-founded STMGaming, which quickly became a Btobet Certified White Label Partner and gained the right to resell white label solutions in Europe and Africa. Alessandro created a team of skilled professionals and a ready-to-go package that caters to the needs of the growing market. With Btobet's support, they strive to enhance their offerings daily by improving software and services provided. Bernice Mwihaki Kariuki - Head of Marketing, Aubrey Group - Panellist Panellist discussing entering the African Market As a Head of Marketing in the lottery and gaming industry, Bernice has over 7 years of experience in traditional and online media planning. She has worked with startups and established brands, helping them to excel in the currently saturated Kenyan market. Bernice is a results-oriented marketing professional with expertise in strategic planning, business development, and creating innovative plans that drive the bottom line. She has a proven track record of identifying issues, developing solutions, and managing projects. Bernice is also an excellent negotiator and communicator who excels at building focused and goal-oriented teams. Aideen Shortt - Founder and CEO, Lilywhite L - Moderator Aideen Shortt is a veteran in the interactive gambling space, with over 10 years of experience in senior and director-level roles in both operator and supplier sides of the gambling market. She has been an active participant and speaker at global industry events and has an extensive network of contacts. Aideen has held director-level roles at Skybet and Chartwell Technology and has also worked with Paddy Power, Clever TV, and Foreshore Limited. She is a writer, social media expert, and ongoing contributor of editorial content for several gambling industry trade publications, including iGaming Business. SiGMA Group to return to Africa in 2024 After a resoundingly successful iGaming Summit in Nairobi, Kenya last January, SiGMA Group has been invited back for a reiteration in 2024. Dr. Jane Makau, Chair of the Betting Control and Licensing Board in Kenya, thanked SiGMA Group for choosing Kenya to host their debut in Africa. She welcomed delegates to Nairobi and highlighted the expo's potential for discussing emerging trends, identifying opportunities, experiencing new gaming products, and doing business in Kenya.
