Entercom Communication announces $32 million acquisition

Entercom has purchased the sports data platform outlet, QL Gaming Group, for a reported $32 million in their quest for digital growth 

Entercom Communications Corp, the Philadelphia based company, has announced that it has come to a final agreement to acquire the QL Gaming Group, a sports data and igaming affiliate program. This deal will provide Entercom’s sports broadcast stations with data analytics and insight driven content provided by QL Gaming Group.

David Field, the Chairman and CEO for Entercom issued a statement following the reached agreement and stated “As the sports betting marketplace continues to grow exponentially, the acquisition of QL Gaming Group is a perfect fit for our unrivaled sports audio platform, ”It is expected that come the end of 2021, the QL Gaming Group is to generate about $12 million in revenue. Technology under the QL hat consists of sports betting data and analytical capabilities (BetQL), daily fantasy sports (RotoQL), simulation-based sports outcome predictions and game forecasting (AccuScore), and comprehensive analytical coverage of the ATP and WTA Tours (TennisInsight.com), each with respective subscriber base and licensing opportunities.“

Field further explained that ‘integrating QL’s analytic and content with our sports brands enables us to deliver unparalleled experiences for sports fans,” Field continued to disclose how the acquisition shows their willingness for digital growth within the company and their need to enhance their portfolio in relation to ‘direct-to-consumer technology’. The CEO of Entercom feels that this move will add an ‘innovative new subscription option’ to their own platform.
