Esports organizations in the country are reporting a significant increase in audience at online events

In the turbulent times of Covid-19, the quarantine has significantly drove consumers to digital products, including eSports. It has also been showing a great growth in the number of interests on matters related to this industry.

Brazilian gamers have demonstrated their skills and high competitiveness in national and international tournaments. Although there is still much more room for improvement in the country´s industry, some Brazilian eSports athletes have been standing out worldwide. The eSports market around the world is growing more and more. Europe and the United States invest heavily in this industry and the Eastern market is one of the most developed in the sector.

According to the Brazilian eSports Confederation, the organizations of eSports championships in Brazil can be divided into two categories: professional x semi-professional. The semi-professional organization of championships requires a well-organized website providing specific informationsuch as details of the games and tournaments to be organized, official transmission channel, official rules, official company page on Facebook and specific registration page for the players. It is worth to underline that this category does not require a physical space, office or open company.

The professional organization, on the other hand, is required to have a specific space for the event, be an open company and provide its own studio or have an official partner that offers the venue for the events. The great differential between the professional organizations and the semi-professionals is the first one usually holds torments with a league structure, which has greater durability and which carries out the face-to-face finals with the participating teams.

Another point to be highlighted is that although Brazil lacks structure when it comes to the eSports sector and the processes to hold a tournament is quite bureaucratic, the vertical has been conquering its space in the Brazilian media. Large specialised media vehicles that cover sports in the country already have sections for eSports modality together with other traditional sports.
