On Wednesday, the government’s Privatisation Unit announced that it will be accepting bids from parties interested in operating this casino.
The announcement made headlines with news outlets stating that the Maltese government is seeking to grant a fifth casino licence but as is now clear, that was not the case.

“Malta has four casinos today and will still have four casinos when this new concession is awarded,” a senior source commented to Times of Malta.

At a minimum, the casino must hold 225 gaming devices and 15 gaming tables.
There are currently four licensed casinos in Malta, namely Dragonara Casino, Portomaso Casino, Casino Malta and Oracle Casino.
Bidders interested have until April 7th to submit their proposals to the privatisation unit and pay a concession fee of €11 million payable over thee years with three equal payments. This RFP specifically excludes Gozo and Comino.
