The Dutch gambling regulator Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) has extended the licence of Novomatic Services NL B.V. for operating gaming machines for another ten years. This will allow the company to continue supplying slot machines to land-based casinos and catering locations across the Netherlands.
The extension became possible after the cancellation of certain special conditions that had previously applied to the licence. With only standard industry requirements now in place, the regulator has shown confidence in Novomatic’s reliability and operations.
According to the company, the long-term licence was secured through the efforts of the legal compliance department, the broader legal team, and the team led by Sabine Stoppel. Novomatic also thanked legal advisor Lars Westhoff for his support during the process.
This development follows Novomatic’s appointment of Dr Alexander Legat as its new CEO in the Netherlands in September 2024. Earlier in January, the Austrian arm of the company was acquired by Tipico, which took full ownership of Admiral Group’s Atlas Group GmbH.
Novomatic also recently entered the UAE market as the third company to receive a gaming vendor licence from the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA). With a Tier 1 licence, the supplier is now permitted to distribute its land-based gaming products in the country, including at the upcoming Wynn Al Marjan Island resort in Ras Al Khaimah.
In a statement, Novomatic said it “aims to establish itself as a reliable partner for licensed operators in the UAE.” Novomatic now joins a small group of companies licensed to supply gaming equipment in the UAE’s emerging regulated gaming market.
Separately, Novomatic is in the process of acquiring French casino group Viking Casinos. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and, if completed, will boost the company’s presence in the European gaming sector.
