Legal Japanese casinos well on their way

The Japanese government has announced new casino law for July 19, though licenses are yet to be issued

JapanGovernmentFrom Jul 19 onwards, The Act on Promotion of Development of Specified Complex Tourist Facilities Areas will be in effect in Japan, legalizing casino operations within the country. Ultimately, the date will not be the mark of major change, as the obligatory operating licences were not yet issued to any single establishment. It is the most important step towards it however.

Authorities are planning to licence three integrated resorts for the beginning, leaving room for expansion after seven or more years, depending on the performance of the first three.

Potential candidates in Osaka, Yokohama, Wakayama and Nagasaki are competing for the limited spots, with the deadline for applications closing in. Possibly, there will not even be three bids by the April 2022 mark.

So far, the partnership of Clairvest with Wakayama official seems highly promising. The prefecture could become Japan’s esports centre if approved.
