The operator under investigation was found to have limited placed bets and winnings received by a player and was issued the first fine ever by the Gambling Supervisory Authority
Lithuania’s Gambling regulator has imposed a fine of €15,000 to UAB Tete-a-Tete Casino. Following an investigation, the operator was found to have unreasonably limited the amount of bets placed and winnings received by the player.
This is the first fine issued by the Gambling Supervisory Authority since the introduction of Lithuania’s Gambling Act which entered into force on January 1st 2016.
The regulator issued a fine on the bases of Lithuania’s remote gaming regulations which doesn’t give the operator the right to apply betting restrictions without finding a breach in regulations. The company limited the amount of bets placed and winnings received by the player.
Back in 2019, a court in Lithuania ordered an employee of online gambling operator Cbet to pay a fine of €1,500 after he was found to have breached national rules on advertising.
Gambling ads in Lithuania are only limited to the name, trademarks and other types of gambling operators can offer and no additional visual or written content can be offered with them.
The decision made by the regulator this week is not final and may be appealed in accordance with the procedure established.
