Melco Resorts and SJM Resorts have announced salary increment for its staff, effective from 1 April.
Melco has announced that all eligible full-time non-management staff in Macau and Hong Kong will receive a hike between 2.5 percent and 6.5 percent. The company noted that those with monthly salary of MOP$16,000 or below will receive a hike of MOP$600, equivalent to 3.8 percent to 6.5 percent. Those earning more than MOP$16,000 per month will receive a salary increase of 2.5 percent.
Lawrence Ho, Chairman and CEO of Melco, said, “We would like to thank our colleagues for their continued dedication and commitment. Melco is pleased to share the results with the team in recognition and appreciation of their tireless efforts and support.
“We look forward to continuing to work with our colleagues to achieve great results in the years to come.”
The company announced a one-month discretionary bonus for its non-management colleagues earlier this month. This bonus is to be paid to employees in Macau and Hong Kong before Chinese New Year.
SJM, on the other hand, announced that eligible staff earning a monthly salary of MOP$16,000 or below will receive an increment of MOP$600 and those earning above MOP$16,000 will receive a 2.5 percent hike.
The company said approximately 99 percent of its workforce will benefit from the programme. “SJM progressed steadily throughout 2024,” said SJM Managing Director, Daisy Ho. “We deeply appreciate the dedication and hard work of our team members and are pleased to announce a salary increase for all eligible employees.
“As we step into the new year, SJM will continue working hand in hand with our team to pursue high-quality development, achieve new milestones across various domains, support Macau’s moderate economic diversification, and create value for the community.”
SJM and Melco are the third and fourth Macau concessionaires to announce the staff salary hike in recent weeks following Sands China and Galaxy Entertainment Group. The company has previously announced a special discretionary bonus equivalent to one month’s salary for eligible employees.
Galaxy Entertainment Group announced that it will hike salaries for all eligible employees at the senior manager grade and below, effective from April 1.
About 98 percent of Galaxy’s staff is set to benefit from the hike. Qualified staff who joined the company before January this year will receive a salary hike according to the programme.
The staff members who have a monthly base salary and guaranteed tips (if applicable) of MOP16,000 or below will receive an increment of MOP600. Meanwhile, qualifying recipients with a monthly base salary above MOP16,000 will receive a 2.5 percent salary increase.
