The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has issued cease-and-desist orders to six online gambling operators found to be illegally offering services to residents of Michigan. The named entities—Bonus Blitz Casino, DomGame, Royal Ace Casino, Slots Capital, Supernova Casino and Wins Mania—were operating without the required state authorisation. These actions violate Michigan’s Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and parts of the Michigan Penal Code.
“These illegal operators often masquerade as legitimate gaming platforms, but they exist entirely outside the legal safeguards that protect consumers,” said Henry Williams, Executive Director of the MGCB. “When Michiganders play on unlicensed sites, they’re placing their personal and financial security at risk—with little to no recourse if things go wrong.”
Unlike licensed operators, these unauthorised platforms are not subject to Michigan’s strict regulatory oversight. Some are based overseas and fall outside US jurisdiction, while others may appear domestic but do not meet the legal and licensing standards required in the state.
In Michigan, licensed platforms are required to follow strict rules that protect players, promote responsible gambling, and ensure games are fair. Illegal operators don’t follow these rules, which puts players at risk and leaves them without the protections they’d get on a legal site.
Williams added,“This action sends a clear message to illegal operators: Michigan is not a place for rogue gambling. We are committed to preserving a safe, legal, and accountable gaming landscape—and that includes rooting out bad actors who threaten the trust we’ve built with consumers.”
The cease-and-desist orders direct the six companies to immediately halt all operations involving Michigan residents, failing which they will face escalating legal consequences.
Participating in illegal gambling can expose players to the loss of deposited funds with no regulatory recourse, identity theft and misuse of personal data, unfair or rigged games with no transparency, and lack of access to responsible gaming tools or self-exclusion programmes.
The MGCB remains focused on protecting Michigan players and upholding a secure and legal gambling environment.
The MGCB has been actively cracking down on illegal online gambling operators in the state. On May 12, the MGCB issued cease-and-desist orders to four unlicensed platforms—You Wager, Bet Pop Casino, Wager 7, and Discount Wager—for offering gambling services without state approval.
This follows earlier actions in May, when the MGCB ordered 14 other online gambling operators to stop their illegal activities. These included sites such as BetFlip, BetMania, Casino Castle, and others, all found to be operating without proper authorisation.
In April, the MGCB took similar steps against 13 offshore gambling websites for failing to comply with state laws on player protection, responsible gambling, and data security.
The MGCB advises players to use only approved sites, which are listed on its official website. Consumers are encouraged to report suspicious or unlicensed gambling activity by calling 1-888-314-2682 or emailing [email protected].
