Midnite secures $10 million to boost innovation and fan engagement

Midnite, a rising name in the UK sportsbook and casino space, has secured $10 million (£7.7 million) in Series B funding. The fresh investment, led by Discerning Capital, the Raine Group, and Play Ventures, brings the company’s total raised to over $35 million.

With this financial boost, the London-based operator is gearing up to challenge the industry’s heavyweights. David Williams, a partner at Discerning Capital and seasoned expert in high-growth gambling ventures, will also join the company’s board, having highlighted Midnite’s marketing strength and rapid growth as promising signs of its potential both in the UK and further afield.

Founded in 2018 by Nick Wright and Daniel Qu, who previously co-created fantasy sports app Dribble with Sky Bet, Midnite has evolved from a sports betting platform into a more diverse offering. With horse racing and casino games added in 2023, the company has seen swift internal growth, expanding from 60 to 110 employees over the past year.

Midnite’s investor lineup is nothing short of impressive, bringing not only capital but also years of industry insight. This backing is expected to be indispensable as Midnite increases its operations and puts weight behind its brand identity within the UK market.

Building with players in mind

One of the key differentiators for Midnite is its decision to develop its sportsbook and casino technology from scratch. Unlike many operators that opt for white-label solutions, Midnite has full control over its platform, allowing for a highly customised and seamless user experience.

Co-founder Nick Wright explained to SiGMA News “Building in-house means Midnite doesn’t have to rely on third-party white label solutions which allows us to create a truly customised experience for each individual player.

“Combining our tech, UX and product, Midnite can prioritise the player experience, offering a slick website and app plus a brand platform designed to speak to a new generation of players, specifically with features including the acca builder, daily scratch games, easy-to-use bet builders and instant payouts.”

Wright summed up the ambition simply: “Our goal is to disrupt the UK betting market and become a tier-1 operator with a challenger brand platform for a new generation of players. With this backing, we can move faster, be bolder, and continue to bring fresh, exciting experiences to the market.”

Midnite’s growth isn’t limited to its tech. The brand recently made its TV debut with a 30-second ad airing on Sky, Channel 4, and Channel 5 across both traditional and digital platforms. The campaign is part of a larger effort to raise brand awareness and connect with players who are looking for a fresher take on betting.

Bringing fans into the action at the World Snooker Championship

The company has also stepped up its live sports presence. Earlier this month, Midnite was named the official UK betting and casino partner of the 2025 World Snooker Championship.

To mark the occasion, Midnite launched the “Midnite Maximum” promotion. During the tournament, any fan at the Crucible Theatre who witnesses a 147 maximum break, the sport’s perfect score, could win £25,000. One seat will be randomly selected before each session, and if a 147 is hit, that fan walks away with the prize.

The idea is to give spectators a front-row seat to history, and the chance to be part of it. “The Crucible is electric when a player’s chasing a maximum,” said Wright. “We wanted to capture that intensity and bring the fans even closer to it.”
