Major League Baseball (MLB) and Sportradar technology provider have expanded their partnership to 2032. According to the agreement, MLB has acquired an equity stake in Sportradar, and the latter would receive exclusive rights to distribute the former’s ultra-low latency official data, media content, including MLB Statcast Data, and AV content across its global client network, which spans 800 sportsbook clients and 900 media companies.
MLB has been partnering with Sportradar since 2014, and this “long-term extension” would further expand the decade-long relationship between the pair.
Under the new agreement, Sportradar will manage the global distribution of MLB’s official data and AV content. This will enhance live sports experiences for fans and betting operators by providing real-time, high-quality information.
Additionally, MLB and Sportradar will collaborate on AI-driven innovations. These products aim to improve fan engagement by offering advanced analytics, interactive experiences, and new ways to enjoy the game.
Sportradar CEO Carsten Koerl expressed excitement about the extended partnership, stating that the deal will help both parties leverage technology and unlock new opportunities in the global sports industry.
Kenny Gersh, MLB’s Executive Vice President of Media & Business Development, highlighted the importance of Sportradar’s role in navigating the evolving sports betting landscape. Since the legalisation of sports betting in various markets, MLB has worked closely with Sportradar to ensure integrity and offer reliable data-driven products to fans and operators.
The extension of this partnership reflects MLB’s ongoing commitment to engaging fans through technology and sports betting solutions while maintaining transparency and fair play in the industry.
Earlier this year, the company opened a new office in São Paulo, Brazil, to service the newly regulated sports betting market. Brazil remains one of the most significant targets of expansion for the company in Latin America.
In addition, Sportradar reported a decline in global match-fixing cases in 2024, marking the first drop in several years. This positive trend indicates improved sports integrity measures, a key area of focus for both Sportradar and its sports league partners, including MLB.
The new extended agreement of MLB and Sportradar represents a shared view of the mutual goal of revolutionising fan experience through cutting-edge technology. Together, AI-driven solutions, quality data distribution, and strong support for legal sports betting will pave the way toward the future of sports entertainment.
As MLB continues to explore new digital opportunities, this deal positions both organisations to capitalise on growing trends in data-driven sports engagement worldwide.
