The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Malaysia Season 15 is set to begin on 19 April 2025, introducing a revamped playoffs format designed to enhance the fan experience. The playoffs will now be split across two weekends, with phase one scheduled for May 30-31 and phase two set for June 14-15.
The decision to restructure the playoffs was made to accommodate fans who found it difficult to attend weekday matches due to school or work commitments. Siew Hao Zhen, Head of Esports (MY and SEA Incubation) at MOONTON Games, explained that the change is an experiment aimed at making the tournament more inclusive and family-friendly.
“In previous seasons, playoffs ran from Thursday to Sunday, making it hard for some fans to attend. Now, with both phases happening on weekends, we hope to create a more accessible and enjoyable experience,” said Siew at the Infinix Iftar Night 2025: Powering the Future with MPL Malaysia event.
The regular season will run from April 19 to May 25 at Stadium Juara, Bukit Kiara, featuring 10 of Malaysia’s top Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) teams. These teams will compete every week, battling for a place in the playoffs. The top six teams from the regular season will qualify for the postseason.
The tournament will open with an exciting match between last season’s grand finalists, SRG and Team Vamos, promising a thrilling start to the competition.
New playoff format
By splitting the playoffs across two weekends, MOONTON Games aims to maximise attendance and engagement, ensuring more fans can witness the decisive moments live.
This season, Infinix has partnered with MPL Malaysia as the official gaming smartphone partner. The collaboration marks a significant step in advancing mobile esports in Malaysia.
