SPPA introduces Chinese 8-ball pool tournament in Nigeria, reinforcing the relationship between the two parties
The partnership between Nigeria and China has strengthened via the gaming industry as the Snooker and Pool Players Alliance of Nigeria (SPPA) and Qinhuangdao Joy Billiard Sports Promotion in China enter a sports agreement. The agreement, issued by FIJI Ventures, is proposed to have the SPPA organise Chinese 8-Ball Pool tournaments in Nigeria from this year.
Chinese 8-ball pool has reached levels of mass popularity and is quickly becoming the next major breakthrough in televised cue sport. The sport embraces the nation through Joy Billiards sponsored 8-Ball pool World Championship, annual event organized by the International Chinese Eight –Ball Association (ICEA). The winners of the tournaments are proposed to have the opportunity to partake in other international tournaments, including the premium event of ICEA, Joy Masters.
Idada Joachim, President of the SPPA shared his excitement in a statement, as the agreement will help give exposure to pool in Nigeria:
Our vision of a player alliance is to create a robust structure that will engender development and create a link to the exciting international circuit that our local pool and snooker players can benefit from affiliations of the SPPA to the ICEA and the Joy Billiards circuit is an affirmation that we have achieved a milestone in the development of pool in Nigeria and we are very hopeful that our local players can prove their mettle at the Chinese 8-Ball pool circuit.
Nigeria is among the few African countries such as Rwanda, Kenya and South Africa, that are ICEA African affiliates with a strong 8-Ball pool presence.
