Ninjas in Pyjamas unveils new home venue for League of Legends Pro League

Ninjas in Pyjamas (NIP), a renowned international esports organisation, has taken a major step forward by unveiling a new home venue for the League of Legends Pro League (LPL). This move not only elevates the organisation’s footprint in China but also solidifies its place among the top esports’ brands worldwide.

Details of Ninjas in Pyjamas’ new venue

NIP has partnered with Shenzhen Poly Culture Dev. Co Ltd to establish an esports stadium within the Buji Cultural and Sports Centre in the Longgang District of Shenzhen, China. The venue officially opened to the public on 30 March and boasts a maximum capacity of over 2,000 spectators.

The new venue marks a significant upgrade from the previous location, which accommodated only 445 seats. The stadium is part of the Buji Cultural and Sports Centre, which includes fitness centres for players and spectators, cultural and recreational activities to enrich visitor experiences, and advanced infrastructure that supports esports events. This integration for various purposes results in an all-encompassing entertainment and lifestyle destination.

NIP’s new stadium is one of five home venues for LPL teams in China, joining the ranks of JD Intel Esports Centre in Beijing, home to JD Gaming; Yangcheng International Esports Arena in Suzhou, home to LNG Esports; QuJiang Esports Centre in Xi’an, home to Team WE; and Hongqiao Tiandi Acting Centre in Shanghai, which serves as a neutral venue. As the only LPL venue in Southern China, this new stadium offers a crucial hub for the city’s burgeoning esports community.

Ninjas in Pyjamas’ expansion strategy

Despite financial dips in the esports sector, NIP continues to grow. The organisation has astutely managed challenges by making investments and broadening its working scale.

NIP Group went public on the NASDAQ exchange in July 2024. Nevertheless, its stock has suffered a downturn, with its current price standing at $1.51 from an IPO price of $9.02.

To finance its operations, NIP secured a multi-year deal with ADIO Holdings Restricted Limited, backed by up to $40 million over four years. This will provide financial stability and drive upcoming projects.

Competitive presence of Ninjas in Pyjamas

NIP competes in a variety of esports titles, such as League of Legends, Counter-Strike 2, Rainbow Six Siege, Apex Legends, Rocket League, EA FC, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB). Their operations extend across Sweden, China, Abu Dhabi, and Brazil, reinforcing their global presence.

With this expansion, NIP positions itself as a leading force in Chinese esports. The investment in a larger venue could set a precedent for future LPL teams looking to enhance their infrastructure.
