Online Gambling Market Predicted to Reach USD 160 Billion by 2026

Global Markets Insights Inc issue a report that projects a tremendous rise in revenue for the iGaming industry

Recent estimations from the market research firm Global Market Insights predict an incredible revenue growth in the coming years due to a collision of reasons such as an increase in smartphone adoption, a progressing internet infrastructure across the world, and several other conveniences and methods that provide easy access to online iGaming platforms.

According to the Web ARChive (WARC), an estimate of 2 billion users used the internet through smartphones since January 2019. It is certain that the COVID-19 pandemic played a game-changing role in the sudden upsurge of online gambling in certain regions of the world, especially due to the stringent lockdown imposed by several governments, one example being Australia, revealing a 67% increase in online gambling in April of this year.

It is important to consider that the gambling market is classified into desktop and mobile usage, and although the report showed the initial upsurge was due to the increase in the use of smartphones, it is also estimated that the desktop will also go through a considerable growth in the coming years. And this is just considering the personal methods used by players.

The increase in advanced technologies like Blockchain and VR is also adding in to this expansion of the market. There is a sudden rise in popularity of VR casinos at the moment, due to the more immersive and realistic experience, apart from the general uprise and interest in VR in all the technological sectors of the globe and not just gaming.

At SiGMA we have noticed these changes in Africa for example, since in the increase of smartphones and  the decrease in the price of mobile data, the use of internet is becoming more accessible to a larger demographic of people. Clearly, the quality of today’s internet and mobile applications is clearly evident of the fact that technological advancements are playing a major role in the online gambling market.
