Luzon Island is also home to the country’s capital; Manila.

PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Andrea D. Domingo stated that the amount “will be used for the procurement of personal protective equipment of healthcare front-liners, additional operating expenses for the Bureau of Quarantine, and support for the tests being conducted by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine.”

“Containing the spread of the virus at the community level is very important as this will further curb spread of the disease. But many of our public hospitals and healthcare facilities are not fully equipped to handle a pandemic of this magnitude. Hence, the need for all of us to work together,” she said.

Andrea Domingo commended the efforts of the health care professionals and further explained that the donation will help protect the healthcare front-liners who are facing the virus head on, by providing them with the necessary protective tools to ensure the health and safety of every Filipino person.

“Thank you for serving our country and the Filipino people. Rest assured that PAGCOR will continue to provide support to our government during these trying times. We are all in this together until this pandemic is over,” she said.

PAGCOR is mandated by the Philippine government to regulate, operate, authorise and licence games of chance, particularly land-based and online casino gaming. PAGCOR runs the state-owned casinos, collectively known as Casino Filipino, which are strategically located in the whole of Metro Manila and key tourist destinations in the 7,000+ islands of the Philippines.
