May saw Nevada casinos maintain their torrid winning streak, bringing in more than $1 billion for the fifteenth consecutive month

The United States’ Nevada Gaming Control Board just announced the release of its monthly report for May 2022. Revenue from commercial casinos reached USD 1.3 billion, an increase of 5.71 percent from USD 1.229 billion in May 2021.

Nevada CasinosThe Strip, which profited from another month of special events that attracted large audiences, contributed the majority of the earnings.

For the first five months of 2022, statewide gaming income increased by more than 22.6 percent over 2021, which witnessed a single-year record of USD 13.4 billion. Revenue from casinos on the strip has increased by 40.2 percent since 2021 when it reached a record-high of USD 7 billion.

Gaming revenue surged by 40.99% during the fiscal year (July 1st, 2021 through May 31st, 2022) reaching more than USD 13.3 billion from nearly USD 9.5 billion.

Michael Lawton, a senior economic analyst for the state commented, saying “This month’s total win amount represents the highest May total gaming win recorded all-time for the state, Clark County, downtown Las Vegas, and the Strip. Gaming win on the Las Vegas Strip benefited from special events and baccarat win amounts.”

Casinos in the city center also did well. GGR on and near Fremont Street was $78.8 million, an increase of 5.25 percent from the previous year.
