Resorts World Genting reopens its doors since January

Resorts World Genting will resume its operations under strict regulations to maintain safety

On Tuesday, The Resorts World Genting (RWG) Malaysia reopened its doors after being “temporarily shut” from January 22, coinciding with the introduction of Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s COVID-19 counter measure – Movement Control Order (MCO).

Genting released a notice on their website related to the casino property, stating that they were pleased to announce that ‘Resorts World Genting [resumed] operations on Tuesday, 16 February, 2021, with strict standard operating procedures in place”.

“Some of our hotels, facilities, attractions and other offerings will be subjected to revised operating hours, limited availability or temporary closure.” It added.

Genting World Resort | SiGMA NEWSFurther information provided on RWG’s website showed gaming venues will operate from 10am-2am while other areas such as Genting Casino, Genting Club and Genting Club Private Gaming will only be available for Genting Rewards members.

RWG was able to reopen sooner than expected despite the extension of the shutdown period to Feb 18, as the Malaysian authorities stated on Tuesday “they would ease curbs in a number of areas in the nation.”

However, specific key areas saw restrictions extended by another two weeks, with one of the states being Kuala Lumpur.

The Ministry of Health previously stated that Malaysia was facing a new spike in COVID-19 cases, with the national tally of infections amounting to 269,165, with a total of 983 deaths.

However, the number of cases are decreasing significantly in recent weeks, with 2,176 infections recorded on Monday – the lowest daily case total since Jan 11.
