Saudi esports giants Twisted Minds and Team Falcons join MPL Philippines

The esports scene in the Philippines is about to get even more exciting with the official entry of two Saudi Arabia-based organisations—Twisted Minds and Team Falcons—into the MPL Philippines for Season 15. With the Philippines being one of the most formidable regions in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) esports, the addition of these international teams is set to elevate the competition to new heights. As esports continues to grow worldwide, the collaboration between Saudi Arabia and the Philippines is particularly noteworthy.

Twisted Minds and Team Falcons enter the league

The Mobile Legends Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines is considered one of Southeast Asia’s most competitive esports leagues. This prestigious league has been a breeding ground for some of the best MLBB players in the world, contributing significantly to the game’s global success.

Twisted Minds and Team Falcons have significantly impacted the esports community in Saudi Arabia, and they are now expanding their reach into the Philippines. These organisations will enter MPL Philippines Season 15 as part of the league’s expansion into creating a more global esports ecosystem.

The decision to join the league comes after Blacklist International and RSG Philippines vacated their franchise spots, creating an opportunity for these international teams to join the competition. The presence of Twisted Minds and Team Falcons increases the competition level and reflects the growing global interest in the Philippine esports’ scene.

Games PH Esports Head of Operations, Matthew Chan (pictured above in the middle), expressed excitement about the inclusion of the two teams.

Chan said, “We are thrilled to welcome Saudi Arabian esports organisations Twisted Minds and Team Falcons into the league as part of the franchise teams. This collaboration is aligned with our mission to expand further the ecosystem through overseas partnerships.”

Official statement and future plans

The vision of Team Falcons, led by Global Director of Esports Grant Rousseau (pictured above on right), in their Southeast Asian expansion is crystal clear. Speaking of the competitive nature of the Philippines’ esports scene, Rousseau himself stated that it was one of the toughest regions to compete in.

Rousseau said, “The Philippines is the strongest region for MLBB players from a competitive point of view. After an initial test year with AP.Bren, the organisation now understands the market’s competitive nature, and we are ready to pick up our franchise and team to compete and win. We’re already starting on a staff buildout, with lots of plans in the future being created to help bring fandom to life for the Philippines and Falcons under the MLBB banner.”

The organisation’s expansion plans go beyond just participating in the MPL; they’re focused on building a lasting presence in the region in terms of competition and community engagement.

Similarly, Ibrahim Bin Jibreen (pictured above on left), the CEO and Founder of Twisted Minds, shares a similar vision for their operations in the Philippines. Twisted Minds is eager to compete at the highest level in MLBB and sees the Philippines as the perfect place to achieve that goal.

“We want to compete at the highest level in MLBB esports, and the Philippines is the right country to be in. It is the best one, especially when it comes to community building and competition. We’re excited to bring opportunities for players, coaches, and managers—all of them will be composed of Filipinos. It will be an opportunity for us to get to know the Filipino market by working with them, and we will provide them with a place to work,” Jibreen said.

The Philippines’ reputation for excellence in MLBB esports is built on consistent success in global competitions like the M-Series World Championships and the MLBB Mid-Season Cup.

M-Series world championships and MLBB mid-season cup

The Philippines has won multiple championship titles at international MLBB tournaments, most notably victories at the M-Series World Championships. Such a track record proves the country’s strength in the esports industry.

The Mid-Season Cup is one of the important events where Filipino teams have excelled in collaborating globally. These wins have helped the Philippines maintain its reputation as a top contender in competitive mobile gaming.

Since Saudi Arabia is the founding country of the EWC, being an emerging destination for the overall esports sector and the heart of the Middle East, as well as providing a global expansion commitment to developing more esports in the future, Saudi Arabia has now agreed to collaborate with this Southeast Asian region.

Adding MLBB to the EWC will make Saudi Arabia’s efforts on these popular esports title even more focused. By supporting teams such as Twisted Minds and Team Falcons, Saudi Arabia will be shaping the future of MLBB esports.
