Singapore authorities arrest 25 suspects in major illegal gambling bust

Unlicensed venue allegedly hosted electronic gambling devices

In a decisive move to combat illegal gambling, Singaporean law enforcement has launched a new police operation resulting in the apprehension of 25 individuals. The crackdown, carried out by the Singapore Police Force, is part of an ongoing effort to curb illicit gambling activities in the city-state.

According to the police, the suspects, comprising 13 men and 12 women aged between 31 and 76, are believed to have been involved in an illegal gambling ring. The operation targeted an unlicensed venue allegedly hosting electronic gambling devices. At the center of the illicit operation were two women, aged 52 and 39, suspected of running the gambling den.

A statement from the police underscored their commitment to tackling illegal gambling head-on. The authorities take a stern view of all forms of illicit gambling activities and have vowed to take strong enforcement measures against those found participating in such unlawful ventures.

During the raid on the illegal gambling establishment, police authorities confiscated SG$19,752 in cash, 11 mobile phones, and various items associated with the operation. This marks the latest in a series of similar successful operations carried out by the Singapore Police Force in recent years.

The recent arrests send a clear message that Singapore remains steadfast in its determination to uphold the rule of law and protect its citizens from the perils of illegal gambling. Authorities urge the public to report any suspicious activities related to gambling to help maintain a safe and law-abiding society.
