The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said it expects the country to see between 17 million and 18.5 million visitor arrivals in 2025. This is expected to generate around SG$29.0 billion to SG$30.5 billion (US$21.5 billion to US$22.5 billion) in tourism receipts.
In 2024, Singapore registered 16.5 million visitor arrivals. The country recorded that tourism receipts for the first nine months of the year reached SG$22.4 billion. However, the tourism receipts for the fiscal year of 2024 will be available in the second quarter of 2025.
As per data from the STB, all spend categories showed year-on-year growth between January and September. This growth was especially led by sightseeing, entertainment and gaming at 25 percent. Following behind was accommodation at 17 percent while food and beverage recorded a 6 percent increase and shopping rose 5 percent.
One of the most significant contributors to the tourism boom is mainland China. With 3.08 million visitors in 2024, mainland China ranked as the top source market for Singapore, generating tourism receipts of SG$3.58 billion. This trend is expected to continue in 2025, as China’s middle class grows, and more citizens look for international travel options.
Another significant contributor for the boom was Indonesia, with 2.49 million visitors contributing SG$2.13 billion in tourism receipts.
Proximity, affordability, and shared cultural experiences make Singapore an appealing choice for travelers from neighboring countries.
Other factors contributing to the overall growth in visitor arrivals in 2024 include Singapore’s integrated resorts (IRs), such as Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World Sentosa. Their year-round calendar of lifestyle events and concerts have driven tourism to the country. They are entertainment hubs, offering luxury hotels, shopping, dining, and world-class entertainment.
STB CEO Melissa Ow said, “As we look back at 2024, as well as our achievements over the last 60 years, tourism has contributed to the economy, reinforcing our international reputation and providing more lifestyle options for visitors and residents. Together with our industry partners, STB is committed to sustain our tourism growth, by increasing Singapore’s mind share and market share, maintaining a diversified market portfolio and strengthening destination vibrancy.
“Our Tourism 2040 roadmap will guide our efforts to drive the next phase of quality tourism growth for Singapore. This will ensure Singapore continues to thrive as a world-class destination that meets the needs of the evolving global traveller.”
