The General Directorate of Gambling Regulation (DGOJ) in Spain has announced funding for 26 research projects with the key objective of reducing gambling harm.
In April the Spanish Ministry of Consumer Affairs initiated the application process for funding gambling-related research projects.
A total of 37 research projects were submitted by universities, health institutions, R&D centres and non-profit entities focusing on harm and conditions associated with gambling activities.

The research
A budget of €1.3 million has been available for this research which subsequent to the State Research Agency evaluation selected 26 projects to receive portions of.
The execution period for these selected projects has now been extended until June 30, 2024.
These projects aim to study disorders stemming from gambling and mitigate their effects and any of its associated risks.
The gambling industry in Spain
