Sportradar to refrain from scouting, gets soccer sub-license in dispute resolution

Sportradar said it has come to an amicable resolution of a legal dispute with Genius Sports and Football Data Co. over the right to data from top flight U.K. soccer leagues.

The dispute dates back to a 2019 accord between Genius and FDC over betting data rights to the U.K. Premier League, Football League and Scottish Professional Football League matches.

Sportradar countered saying the exclusive accord contravened competition law.

Sportradar said that under the settlement, FDC will maintain the right to license and market the data and Genius Sports will have the right to low latency exclusivity through 2024.

In return for agreeing to refrain from unauthorized in-stadia scouting of the matches, Sportradar has bought a sub-license from Genius that gives rights to a delayed official secondary feed through to the same year.

The remaining terms are confidential, it said in an official statement.
