Switzerland’s Casino du Lac goes online

Switzerland’s Partouche Group-Owned Casino du Lac in Meyrin is the 7th and latest land-based casino to go online.

online gamingCasino du Lac went live under its Pasino.ch site 16th November as announced by Switzerland’s Federal Gaming Board (ESBK). On the table for players include a host of slot and casino-style table games. Pasino.ch had also recently signed a deal with Red Tiger.

The process of launching the online casino was a lengthy onerequiring approval from a host of entities.

The casino’s partnership with Evolution Gaming earlier this year would act as the backbone for their online offering. As part of the agreement, players have the choice of playing from their tablet, desktop or mobile and have also access to live dealers for poker, baccarat and roulette.

On April 29th , the Switzerland National Council (Bundesrat) approved the extension of the license following the submission of the casino’s online gambling application in January this year. The ESBK assures that Casino du Lac has officially ‘received all the necessary gaming permits’ needed to operate online.

Switzerland’s casino’s recent shift to online gaming can be partially contributed to the influence of the ongoing pandemic, causing local shutdown of retail casino operators.

Casino du LacMoreover, Switzerland has joined the many European countries currently experiencing a surge in COVID-19 cases; prompting new restriction measures including regional specific casino lockdowns. For instance, Partouche’s Geneva venue is open under limited hours and have shut down their slot machines to mitigate the spread of the virus.

The decision to launch online proved fruitful, not only to the Casino du Lac but a host of other land-based casinos, as the pandemic has seen an increase in online gambling players.
