General Manager Lin Botai said that due to COVD-19 many live events have been forced to stop, so the company needed to find a new direction. Esports games account for a huge part of the economy.

Taiwan Sports Lottery says that the Esports lottery market can open up to 11,000 games each year as betting targets, and provides 4,500 live bets, including ‘League of Legends’, ‘CSGO’, ‘Dota2’, ‘StarCraft II’, ‘Call of duty’, ‘Over Watch’, ‘Hearthstone’, ‘Mobile Legends’ and so on. These are all projects that have the opportunity to enter the market in the future.

As estimated, Taiwan’s sports lottery betting population is about 20,000 to 30,000. And this year is the seventh year of the establishment of the Taiwan Sports Lottery Company. The sales amount for the whole year of 2020 was originally estimated to be 1.4 billion U.S. dollars, until the global public health incident hit.

From this year to July 19, the lottery sales amount was only 650 million U.S. dollars which is 22.7% reduction. However, mainstream sports such as MLB (Major League Baseball) and NBA (Professional Basketball) have resumed competitions.

General Manager Lin Botai predicts that this year sports lotteries in Taiwan will still have a chance to sell more than 1 billion US dollars, and the annual sales amount will exceed 1.2 billion US dollars.
