5. Germany:

Germany has been drawn in group F alongside Portugal, Hungary and France. The country is the joint-most successful team in the tournament with 3 titles to their name alongside Spain. It has been 25 years since Germany last lifted the Euro trophy, but superstition has it that the Euro 96 final was played at Wembley Stadium – where the 2021 showpiece will be held. Germany has been a part of twelve European Championships so far. They hold the record of participating in the most European Championships in history and have won the tournament in Belgium 1972, Italy 1980 and England 1996.

4. Spain:

As winners of their qualifying group, Spain were placed into group E alongside Sweden, Poland and Slovakia. Spain had previously won consecutive European Championships in 2008 and 2012, either side of their World Cup victory in 2010. Spain is led by standout striker Álvaro Morata. The Juventus star is coming off a brilliant campaign in Serie A, where he racked up 20 goals and 12 assists in 44 matches across all competitions. The three-time European champions have home advantage on Monday and have won 11 and drawn two of 13 matches in Spain since England beat them 3-2 in the Nations League in October 2018. 3. Belgium:

Belgium is placed in group B along with Denmark, Russia and Finland. The team is among the favourites for Euro 2021. An impressive showing at the 2018 World Cup saw the team finish third but this only means that the team will be keen for even more success this summer. Their appointed coach Roberto Martinez is very well-known for coaching Swansea City, Wigan Athletic and Everton. At Everton Martinez developed a fantastic relationship with Romelu Lukaku, greatly expanding the Belgian’s skill-set and turning him into a genuinely top-class forward. Qualification was elementary for Belgium, with 40 goals and just three conceded helping them record 10 wins from 10.  Their first game will be played on Saturday 12th against Russia.

1. France:

France is placed in group F alongside contenders Hungary, Portugal and Germany. After dominating the 2018 world cup with Croatia, this team’s fearsome forward line makes them favorites to win. Five years after the final lost with Portugal, France have revenge to be taken. After a 10-month break imposed by the pandemic, French coach Didier Deschamps used last autumn’s Nations League matches to try different systems. Deschamps captained Les Bleus to victory at the 1998 World Cup and EURO 2000. He led them to World Cup glory in 2018 and can secure the second international double of his career at EURO 2021. If you are looking to place a bet on best player of the team, Kylian Mbappe, who has emerged in recent years as France’s best player might be a good pick. Hosting Euro 2016, France reached the final the same year, will this follow? Favorites France are not in action until Tuesday.
