Top 5 teams at DreamHack Masters Spring 2021

DreamHack Masters Spring 2021 kicks off on April 29 and will feature 16 of the best European CS:GO Esports teams in action

The tournament has a $250 thousand prize pool, with 16 teams competing for the top spot. Here are the top five teams with the best chance of taking the European championship title.

Gambit Esports

Gambit is one of the heavy favorites to win the DreamHack Masters Spring 2021 tournament. Consistently good results and a top-two finish in five of its last six events is a big reason for their popularity. The roster itself is comprised of several young players who rose through the international scene after being scouted by the organization years ago. Gambit’s combination of firepower and Abay ‘Hobbit’ Khassenov’s experience presents a daunting task for opponents.

Heroic

For any CS:GO esports fans, this tournament is a competition between the Heroic and Gambit teams. Heroic won ESL Pro League Season 13 but fell short of Gambit at the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown. Heroic’s roster has shown amazing resilience since the organization’s failed attempt to sell its roster to FPX last year and then reached the top spot in the HLTV rankings. A big reason for the team’s success is its proficiency on Vertigo, which allows an upper hand during the draft phase.

G2 Esports

G2ESPORTSG2 Esports benched Kenny ‘kennyS’ Schrub and brought Audric ‘JaCkz’ Jug to the active roster and the team has already shown significant improvements in its results. The team qualified for the BLAST Premier Spring Finals after an undefeated run through the Spring Showdown event. With the roster change, G2 still has to figure out its map pool and playstyle. But so far, the team has put up inspiring results. DreamHack Masters Spring 2021 will be the real test for G2 Esports’ new active lineup.

Natus Vincere

Despite its recent problems, Natus Vincere still remains a favorite to win this tournament, especially since winning BLAST Premier Global Finals. The team has one of the best players on its roster in Oleksandr ‘s1mple’ Kostyliev. They see inconsistent results but they have announced new changes to the roster. B1t will replace Flamie during RMR events which should bring stability to the roster. Na’Vi still has a ways to go before it can challenge Gambit and Heroic. But the team always has immense potential due to the sheer skill-ceiling of the players on its roster.

Virtus.Pro

Virtus.Pro might not be the top-ranked team in CS:GO esports currently, but that does not take away any of their achievements. The VP roster has a very aggressive playstyle coupled with strong player synergy with each other. The team saw a meteoric rise in the past six months t00. VP was the 38th best team in September 2020 and is now in the top five ranks of the HLTV rankings.

Virtus.Pro has quite a few wins to its name with FLASHPOINT Season 2 and DreamHack Open in December 2020. The team continued its strong performance through cs_summit 7 and Snow Sweet Snow #1. VP reached the grand finals of IEM XV losing to Gambit in the grand finals. Despite the string of successful results, Virtus.Pro had a relatively early exit in the ESL Pro League Season 13. The team lost to Complexity Gaming, ultimately finishing in 7-8th place.

Dust 2, Inferno, Overpass and Mirage are Virtus.Pro’s best maps. The team has an 83.3% win rate on Inferno due to its strong CT defense. With the occasional push into the B alley and in A apartments, Virtus.Pro often gets enough information to counter the opponent. Coming into DreamHack Masters Spring 2021, Virtus.pro has the chance to get back to winning the CS:GO esports scene.
