Wettarena granted sports betting licence in Germany

Wattarena is now one of the first seven sports betting providers to receive this hybrid licence

The Darmstadt Regional Council has approved IBC Sportsbetting, a hybrid licence to offer both online and land-based sports betting in Germany under the name Wettarena

For a very long time it was not clear what the future of online sports betting holds in Germany, as this was previously only legal in the state Schleswig-Holstein.

The new licence entitles IBC to sell its offer nationwide although it was obtained in a different state. With the new license IBC Sportsbetting is planning a major expansion in the German market.

Germany - Wettarena to expand sports betting offering into every major German city - G3 NewswireSales Manager of Wettarena, Halil Kopal, has set the goal of having his own betting offices in every major German city. Many betting arena branches are currently being built including betting shops in North Rhine-Westphalia, Baden-Württemberg, Hesse, Lower Saxony, Saxony and other locations. Wettarena’s biggest branch is in Bochum, and has around 1,600 square meters. This branch will be a major betting shop in Germany.

Gökhan Balkaya, Managing Director and Owner of IBC Sportsbetting, said: “For us, the years of hard work and waiting for the concession have finally paid off. We are pleased to be represented on the German market as an independent betting provider and look forward to a successful entrepreneurial future. We would also like to thank our former partner Bet3000 for the successful cooperation and wish them all the best.”

After separating from Bet3000, Wettarena is looking to significantly expand its market share. In addition to online sports betting offerings on www.wettarena.de, numerous new openings of land-based betting shops are on the horizon along with shops based on the franchise model planned by the end of the year.

The new land-based concept offers a modern design. In addition to gigantic video walls on which all relevant sports events are to be broadcasted, the branches are equipped with high-quality, state-of-the-art technology.
