Zambia steps closer to single gambling regulation entity

The current fragmented state of gaming and lotteries regulation in Zambia is causing severe revenue loss for the government

ZambiaMapThe Zambian government currently pursuing efforts to establish a single gaming and lotteries regulator in Zambia. At a consultative meeting in Solwezi, is was announced that an inter-ministerial technical committee had been established with the goal of harmonising current laws.

According to Gambling Insider, the framework of Zambia is widely being abused. while simultaneously perpetuating rapid growth. During the meeting in Solwezi, Willies Manigmela, Permanent Secretary of the North-Western Province stated:

“As you may be aware the government has noted with concern that the current legislations for the gaming and lotteries sector in the country are fragmented, resulting in loss of revenue to the government.”

The Council of Elders provincial secretary Kenneth Kapata and Zambia Police Service Divisional Legal Officer Allan Mabahwe have requested further insights into the process, wishing to submit useful content.
