Summarily, I have a diversified experience and track record in successful management of start-ups here in Africa, with four years in the conception, implementation and management of marketing and business development strategies. I’ve assumed different roles in the insurance, healthcare and gaming sectors.
This is my third year in uninterrupted marketing of digital gaming solutions with earlier experience in EMR, Fintech, Regtech, Insurance and healthcare technologies. I always quote the experience with this Dublin based tech firm called Vitro Software International as the most amazing; not only because that’s where I got my first exposure to the marvels of technology but also because that was my first opportunity to participate in rolling out a start-up business in Africa. The training I received in project management, marketing and tech sales is still vital till date.
I joint the gaming sector in 2018 as Africa Project Manager for a group of British investors, helping them to secure licenses in several countries. I built strategic partnerships for them with government agencies and local consultants and played a lead role in stakeholder management. I rolled out both land-based and online operations for them in Cameroon as Country Manager; opening betting shops, liaising with third party suppliers and partners, and providing support to marketing operations including brand building and CRM. They operated for two years and wound down the business.
The most challenging part of this experience was integration of payment solutions for both online and off line operations. In fact, working with telcos back then was a herculean endeavor due to administrative bottlenecks and unfriendly due diligence processes. Mobile money penetration level was still very low back then and cuts from aggregators were generally deemed unaffordable; especially for new entrants. However, I enjoyed that experience and today I’m delighted to add my voice to conversations about “Optimizing payment processing in the African market”
