DraftKings and Apple Sports unite to launch a game-changer in sports betting

Apple and DraftKings have recently launched a new app called Apple Sports. This sports scoreboard app offers real-time access to major sports leagues and is available in the U.S., Canada, and the UK. What sets this app apart is its integration with DraftKings, the second-largest sports betting operator in America.

DraftKings has collaborated with Apple to display real-time betting odds on the Apple Sports app. This feature can be turned off in the settings, providing users with control over their app experience. The integration of DraftKings into Apple Sports could prove valuable to college basketball fans, especially with the approximately $15.5 billion wagered on last year’s March Madness tournament.

Strong start to the year

DraftKings has had a busy start to the year, marked by significant collaborations and acquisitions. The company secured a multi-year partnership with Barstool Sports, a leading sports media company. This partnership followed non-compete agreements put in place after PENN Entertainment sold Barstool back to its founder, Dave Portnoy, for $1 in 2023.

In addition to the partnership with Barstool Sports, DraftKings agreed to acquire digital lottery supplier Jackpot in a deal valued at roughly $750 million. This acquisition, which includes cash and stocks, could generate up to $340 million in incremental revenue in FY2026. DraftKings also posted strong results in Indiana throughout January as the state’s top sports betting operator. The sportsbook, which partners with Ameristar Casino, reported a $181.3 million handle in January, compared to a $179.7 million handle in December 2023. In conclusion, the launch of Apple Sports and its integration with DraftKings marks a significant milestone in the sports betting industry. As the landscape of sports betting continues to evolve, collaborations like these are likely to shape the future of the industry.
