DraftKings stops DFS contests in Malta, Germany, Ireland and Austria

DraftKings has advised its customers in Malta, Germany, Ireland and Austria that it will stop offering daily fantasy sports (DFS) from 22nd January.

In an email, the company said players will not be allowed to deposit funds and enter contents in these four countries. They must also withdraw all funds from their accounts before 22 January.

All in-game currencies will be converted back to US dollars prior to withdrawal.

“Following this conversion on 18 January, we strongly recommend you initiate a withdrawal request from DraftKings as soon as possible. Should any funds remain in your account after 22 January, DraftKings will not be able to process withdrawals and is required to remit any remaining funds in your account to the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) for customers that were located in Austria, Germany, Ireland and Malta when they registered their account.”

DraftKings said that customers whose funds are transferred to the MGA should ask the Maltese regulator to recover them.
