Out with a boom and a bang: MGA suspends casino licence

Liinoo Invest Europe Limited, the owners of BoomBang VIP Casino, have had their MGA-issued casino authorisation suspended. The decision, effective as of December 1, 2023, was made in accordance with regulation 9 (1) (f), (i), and (m) of the Gaming Compliance and Enforcement Regulations (S.L. 583.06).

Regulation violations

The regulatory violations as the grounds for the suspension, specifically are the following (extracted from the Gaming Compliance and Enforcement Regulations:

  • the authorised person is bankrupt, insolvent or is being wound up;
  • the  authorised  person  has  failed  to  meet commitments to players in a timely manner, or the Authority has reason to believe that such failure is imminent
  • the  Authority,  in  its  sole  discretion,  has determined  that  there  is  material  and  sufficient  reason  for suspending the authorisation.

Liinoo Invest Europe Limited holds the authorization with reference number MGA/B2C/291/2015, and the suspension is issued under the mentioned regulations to ensure compliance and enforcement within the gaming sector.

As part of the suspension directive, Liinoo Invest Europe Limited is obligated to continue collaborating with the Authority, following the specific guidelines outlined in the Suspension document provided to the company. Additionally, the company is required to maintain access for the Authority to conduct any necessary data extraction procedures.

This decision, made in accordance with the provisions of regulation 12 of the Regulations, is subject to appeal under article 43 of the Gaming Act (Chapter 583 of the Laws of Malta).

The structure for gaming B2C and B2B licenses includes various types, and in the case of BoomBang VIP Casino, it falls under Type 1. This category encompasses games of chance played against the house, with outcomes determined by a random number generator (RNG). The approved verticals under this license include casinos, slots, scratch cards, lotteries, secondary lotteries, and virtual games.
