SiGMA Foundation donates EUR 50,000 to Dreams of Horses Farm in Xagħra, Gozo

The SiGMA Foundation has generously donated EUR 50,000 to the Dreams of Horses Farm in Xagħra, Gozo, earmarked for the construction of a new block on the farm. This new facility will be dedicated to facilitating their Equestrian Assisted Learning (EAL) and Animal Assisted Therapy Programmes.

The programmes at the farm cater for people facing a range of challenges from children with behavioural and socio-environmental integration issues to those having been through different facilities such as psychiatric units, correctional institutions as well as individuals with special needs.

Keith Marshall, Chief Philanthropy Officer of the SiGMA Foundation shared why this project felt relevant to the Foundations goals, stating, “Victor is a special guy; he is adamant to leave no one behind. People get a really bad run at the tables of life sometimes and it’s up to us to reinstate the balance of play. This project at Dreams of Horses punctuates this ethos perfectly.”

According to Victor Muscat, owner of the Dreams of Horses farm, the relationship that we can build with animals provides valuable knowledge, sensory experiences, and emotions which aren’t typically transferable through academia. These activities, whether individual or group-oriented, reveal the importance of these human-animal interactions for mutual well-being.

Victor expressed his gratitude saying, “I cannot thank the SiGMA Foundation enough for their continued support. We at the farm love the fact that Keith, Jessie and the team believe in our project and are working tirelessly for us to see things through.”

Furthermore, the Dreams of Horses farm offers specialised educational packages tailored for children dealing with behavioural and emotional challenges, providing programmes focusing on team-building and improved communication skills. The unique farm environment offers these children a fresh perspective, aiding them in viewing their lives from new angles and fostering personal growth.
