SiGMA Group expands affiliate marketing services to Illinois

SiGMA Group is pleased to announce that it can now provide affiliate marketing in the state of Illinois. This follows the acquisition of licences across the US, with SiGMA venturing into New Jersey, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Ohio. Its B2C affiliate portal, SiGMA Play, will continue to announce further acquisitions over the coming weeks.

In the words of SiGMA Play’s Managing Director, Mex Emini, “We’re excited to announce that we’ve expanded our horizons and can now offer affiliate marketing services in Illinois. We look forward to forging new partnerships as we enter markets in North America and beyond.”

2023 sees record income for the Illinois Lottery

In October 2023 the Illinois Lottery recorded the highest net income yet, netting more than $880 million for 2023. Most of this profit is diverted to state education.

Illinois boasts 11 traditional commercial casinos that collectively raked in a whopping $2.14 billion in revenues in 2022, marking a substantial 25% year-over-year growth. The Prairie State’s IL sports betting landscape is equally intriguing, boasting a blend of retail and online components that attracted a staggering $9.3 billion in handle last year, with a remarkable 90% of that action stemming from online wagering.

Additionally, the state is dotted with thousands of legal video gaming terminals (VGTs) contributing a substantial $2.7 billion in revenue for the numerous VGT operators.

The Internet Gaming Act

Despite a notable surge in iGaming-related proposals, bills introduced this year failed to find traction when legislative sessions came to an end in May. Things remain on pause until the 2024 biennial legislative sessions.

In February, Representative Edgar Rodriguez initiated iGaming legislation in the House, paralleled by a separate legislative proposal introduced by Representative Jonathan Carroll. His draft included a low 12% tax rate, and mandated a six-month in-person registration period.

State Senator Cristina Castro, the chairwoman of the Senate Executive Committee, introduced a Senate version this year, known as SB1656 or the Internet Gaming Act, mirroring a 2021 effort by Castro. With the Illinois Gaming Board set to oversee and regulate the industry, this bill would allow the state’s casinos and racetracks to apply for internet gaming licences with up to three skins on that licence. She also proposed a 15% tax rate – matching that of sports betting in the state. Licensing fees would be higher under their version, but online registration would be available from the day the market launches.

In 2020 the SiGMA Group branched into affiliation, generating valuable traffic for iGaming operators and offering a one-stop-shop solution for the gaming sector through the launch of SiGMA Play.
