SiGMA Group supports Foundation projects with €200,000 donation

SiGMA Group’s CEO, Emily Micallef, and CFO, Clive Terribile, presented a cheque for  €200,000 to Keith Marshall, the Chief Philanthropy Officer of the SiGMA Foundation, in a ceremony taking place at SiGMA’s Malta office.

This generous contribution stemmed from a successful series of charitable auctions hosted during SiGMA’s global summits in the previous year. The events spanned various locations, including Limassol, Dubai, Manila, and Brazil.

The funds raised are earmarked for the SiGMA Foundation’s ambitious 2024 projects. These initiatives are designed to provide support and empowerment to disadvantaged and vulnerable communities across the globe, reflecting SiGMA Group’s commitment to making a positive impact on a global scale.

In a speech to the SiGMA team, Keith Marshall spoke passionately about the work the Foundation does, saying: “There is nothing about what we do that is anything beyond the ordinary. You just need one attribute, credence in what you do. We know we’re not going to change the world – but if we do what we can, when we can, for who we can, and if we aspire to inspire, then that’s the only ethos we need moving forward.”

“We are honoured to be able to present this cheque today, to be a part of such an amazing cause that does so much good around the world and that has such big plans for the future. It truly is a worthy cause. We would like to thank our clients for their enormous support – especially those who so generously contributed to our fundraising efforts by bidding during the auctions,” commented SiGMA CEO, Emily Micallef.

2024: The road ahead

Women empowerment

Construction progress in Ethiopia.

The women empowerment project in Jimma Bonga, Ethiopia aims to provide educational programmes for up to 500 women annually in the verticals of IT, sewing and embroidery, cooking and hairdressing. The project aims to boost limited access to education and economic opportunities, by offering them the chance to improve their skill set and find employment. Around €60,000 has been allocated to support this project.

Multi-sensory Hall

€20,000 will be diverted to a project in Bataan, the Philippines, which will focus on the construction of a versatile multi-sensory hall, a space which can serve as a music hall, a communal meeting area for parents, and dedicated zones for children to practise drama, dance, and theatre.

The GLOW Campaign

The GLOW Campaign, a program to reconstruct cleft lips and palettes for children in the Cartagena area of Colombia kicked off in January 2024 with a trek through the Lost City Trail. Further expeditions will also include the Camino de Santiago in September and Mount Toubkal in May. At the time of writing, around 60 operations had been successfully carried out.

Dreams of Horses Farm

The SiGMA Foundation is also involved in the financing of the construction of an additional wing at the Dreams of Horses therapy farm in Xaghra, Gozo. €20,000 will fund the building of classrooms and dormitories, where children suffering from past traumas will be able to receive therapy through gentle interaction with animals. The farm also supports PTSD victims, victims of domestic violence, as well as individuals recovering from addiction and other mental health challenges.
