WHY TAKE THIS COURSE

Learn the purpose of the infrastructure and money handling classes and how they are intended to be used

Communications, meters, and events form the core infrastructure for the Game-to-System (G2S) protocol. All EGMs need to implement the classes that support these constructs. Just about all host systems use them.

Similarly, all EGMs need one or more mechanisms to accept and disburse money – money handling devices. In G2S, there are many ways to do this and, thus, many classes supporting the acceptance and disbursement of money including coin acceptors, hoppers, note acceptors, note dispensers, hand pays, vouchers (tickets), wagering accounts, smart cards, and direct funds transfers.

This course introduces students to the infrastructure and money handling classes. Students will learn the purpose of the classes and how they are intended to be used. They will also learn which of the common building blocks – status, configuration, meters, and logs – are used by each class and what important features they contain.

  • Understand the asynchronous communications model used in G2S
  • Understand the role of the meters and event handler classes
  • Be familiar with the G2S subscription model for meters and events
  • Learn the different mechanisms for accepting and disbursing money
  • Understand the role of each money handling class and how it is intended to operate
  • Understand which of the common building blocks – status, configuration, meters, and logs – are used by each class and what they contain
