The breakdown of licences consisted of 593 licences issued for slot machines, four licences given to operators so they could conduct bookmaking operations, and three other licences issued allowing internet gambling. Moreover, three other licences were also obtained, enabling businesses to provide gambling services. 63 applications in all were rejected with the majority of these (60) being for slot machine licences.

The other 3 applications were rejected due to application errors. One would have allowed an operator to provide gambling services, while the two others would have allowed gambling to occur in slot machine halls. 33 applications for licences to certify potential gambling establishments were also submitted. Again due to errors in the applications, 17 of these were issued while 16 were not.

Three “Russian-controlled” operators had their licences revoked last month by KRAIL. The regulator stated that the martial law that was implemented in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022 resulted in the issuance of about 50% of the successful licences.
