After Hungary, Norris sets the pace for Piastri in Monza

The top two drivers from the Hungary Grand Prix remain at the forefront at Monza today, with Lando Norris (photo above on the right) in the lead, closely followed by his teammate Oscar Piastri (photo above on the left).

With both dynamic drivers securing a front row lock-out, McLaren is in an ideal position to challenge for the championship, leaving their rivals scrambling to keep up. This marks McLaren’s second front row lock-out of the season, taking advantage of Red Bull‘s struggles, as Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez qualified seventh and eighth.

Norris expressed surprise at the team’s performance, noting the tight competition and praising the team’s efforts. He mentioned that although he was pleased with his lap, he felt it could have been better. Piastri also reflected on his performance, feeling he could have challenged for pole with a cleaner final lap.

McLaren will narrow the gap in Monza

As they head into the race, McLaren aims to reduce Red Bull’s 30-point lead in the constructors’ standings, while Norris looks to close the 70-point gap to Verstappen in the drivers’ championship. Both drivers anticipate a challenging race due to tyre and track conditions, emphasising the excitement of a tightly packed field.
