Betfred renews commitment to Derby with three-year sponsorship extension

Betfred has recently announced the extension of its sponsorship deal with The Derby, solidifying its support for the renowned flat race and its commitment to this historical race.

The new three-year agreement cements Betfred’s position as a key player in the equestrian domain and further fortifies its collaboration with The Jockey Club.

The partnership, set to endure until at least 2026, entails Betfred securing naming rights for the two-day fixture held at the iconic Epsom Downs. The Betfred Derby Festival, as it will now be officially known, is poised to benefit not only from the continued financial backing but also from the intensified collaboration between the betting giant and The Jockey Club.

More races, more thrills

A notable highlight of this sponsorship extension is the incorporation of additional support for an extra race on each day of the festival. With this enhancement, the festival’s race lineup now boasts a total of six thrilling contests across the two days, elevating the overall spectacle for racing enthusiasts and participants alike.

What sets this extension apart is its twelve-month extension beyond the initially proposed three-year agreement.

Betfred’s founder, Fred Done, (above in photo), expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Following on from a memorable two days at Epsom last year, we are delighted to further develop our support of the Betfred Derby Festival.” This extension not only underscores the success of the existing partnership but also signifies Betfred’s ongoing commitment to the growth and prominence of The Derby in the global racing scene.

As managing director at Jockey Club Racecourses, Amy Starkey, points out, “Our relationship with Betfred spans many years and many major races.” This extended collaboration comes on the heels of a successful first running of The Betfred Derby in 2023, reflecting the positive impact and synergy between the two entities. Starkey expresses excitement about strengthening the partnership at Epsom Downs and looks forward to promoting The Derby as the greatest flat race in the world in 2024 and beyond.

Betfred Derby Festival secured

In conclusion, Betfred’s renewed and elevated commitment to The Derby not only secures the financial foundation of the Betfred Derby Festival but also promises an enriched and exhilarating experience for racing enthusiasts, ensuring that The Derby remains a prominent fixture in the global horse racing calendar.
